Add Attachment Extensions Empty Add Attachment Extensions

2 questions:

1. I'd like to add extensions to the list of authorized extensions. How do I do that? Is it possible?
Add Attachment Extensions Attach10

2. How do I add a .torrent file as an attachment? Is that the right way to host a tracker? I run a tracker on my PC for sharing my work with friends. I own the rights to everything I would share. I already read all of your other topics about illegal torrents.

There is no reason to ban bittorrent. It's the best way for me to share large files containing my creative work which I own all rights to without uploading the whole thing to the server. However, .torrent is not allowed.

So, the tracker is hosted on my PC and I just upload the .torrent file in a .zip file and it should work. However, I'd like to just host the original .torrent files in new topics.

Both your questions are not possible. All the extensions listed in that image are allowed. You cannot remove or add others.

For you 2nd question, no you cannot add .torrent files.

I'd like to host .torrents in .zip format and with content which I own.

Do you see any issues with the Forumotion automatic warning system? I want the site to operate within the rules.

I just suggest you read the ForuMotion Terms of Service.

The TOS says nothing about .torrents, only responsibilities, legalities and legislation which guides the hand that bans without warning.

So, I'll go ahead and share my totally legal content and use .torrent files in zip containers to do so.

.torrent files are clean and trustworthy when gotten from a clean and trustworthy source.

I just wanted to inquire about your experience with banning. Since Forumotion went to the trouble to exclude .torrent files, it follows that there may be other settings preventing their inclusion.

However, preventing the upload of a .torrent file does stop a person from making a .torrent host which automatically opens your bittorrent programs. So, it won't be a problem and I should do it as I feel fit.

Would you agree?

Hello,

ForuMotion has decided to not include the .torrent extention because it is renoun to contain virus', hacking attemps and other unlawful things such as illigal music trnasfere, illigal copying of material or paid content (for example, Microsoft office 2007) and many other things.
Yes, there is a few people, such as yourself who legitimently use the extension for only good reasons, but it is for the responsability, liability and integrity of the company to disallow these such formats, to frevent them from being suesd for a users-fault, or from a user 'accidentally' downloading a Virus from an attachment.

I'm sorry but no matter what, you cannot, and will not be able to hiost a .torrent extension directly on the ForuMotion.com servers, due to safety of their users!

If you wish, I'm sure you could host outside of the forum and give the user/s a link to the download Wink

OK. I'll follow those rules. Thank you for the help. Smile

Allow me to say:

I notice that the viruses people get from .torrent files don't actually come from the .torrent file. They come from the viewing of pornography on the public .torrent sites.

Also, there is large misinterpretation of firewall warnings because .torrent files open bittorrent programs already present on the system and the firewalls ask about it. I'm saying viruses don't come from .torrent files. They come from the surrounding websites and trojan horses on the download.

There is less advantage to hosting links to .torrent files here if they are just hosted on another site. So, I am a little disappointed at the lack of insight I see here. I'm forced to purchase storage or go elsewhere for it. That bad for bittorrent.

Bittorrent will die without being used for good if we go on this way. It's really a shame. However, understandable due to theft.
