Banned member says we must remove all his posts?????
Hi,
I'm not sure where i should be posting this but i have had to ban a member for causing problems and now he is saying that under data protection act that i have to delete all of his posts (roughly 1400) is there anyway that i can remove all these at once????? I was thinking if there is a way of deleting all guests posts as he now shows up as a guest???
Also is it actually right that i do have delete them or is he just trying to cause more issues????
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Yes, it is required of you to remove ALL of his posts, under the French Data Protection Act, or whatever the french act is lol.
Unfortunately, if you do not comply with him, according to the law, your forum has to be shut down.
I'm sorry but I have to be the bearer of bad news

I'm mot 100% on this, but when we banned someone, all their posts disappeared anyway, even though it still indicated that they were still there.
As for data protection, its just the banned member trying one last attempt to be an areshole. He made the posts under forum guidelines which should stipulate that all posts become the property of the forum when posted. He probably got banned through violating forum rules too, so tell him to check the terms and conditions before leaving.
The only thing he CAN insist on is that all indications pointing toward him via his profile be removed, so just confirm that his profile cannot be accessed by other members.
In the case of 'guest posting', theres nothing to confirm that the 'guest' is that member anyway so theres nothing to answer to. Its just a case of sitting with your hand on the delete button if he's messing about with forum posts.

Hannahl3, french law's are not stipulated in the ToS, even though the majority are, the rules for users are not listed.

It should be noted however that you cannot require of the administrator to remove all your messages (Except if they contain personal information making it possible to identify you formally).
Darren you missed this ^^
