NEW UPDATE : Forumotion Traffic exchange!

First topic message reminder :

Dear users and members,

To improve the ranking and the audience of your forum, we inform you that we have now added a new feature entitled "Traffic exchange" which remains in Beta.

This new option will allow you to share traffic and visitors, with forums in the same category as your forum topics and have similar or close subjects to yours.
It will appear at the end of each subject in the form of a block of links related to the selected subject.

To increase the number of visitors and thus the general audience of your forum, you should turn on option traffic exchange in your admin panel>> General>> Forum promotion >> Traffic exchange.

You can of course deactivate it when you want.

Hello Typlo,

My forum is in English, I have a PhpBB3 theme installed (personalized style sheet), and I have activated the forum promotion... but I see no block of links occuring on any topic.

I have been looking for the option to edit with CSS, but that option appears not to be activated for my forum (maybe that makes sense because of my PhpBB3 theme???).

Anyway, what else can I do to activate forum promotion for my forum?

Please give us a clue about how we can see that it is active... please notice: so far nobody confirmed that they can see the 'block of links'!???

I activated "Traffic Exchange" when I went back to the main page I could not get into any of my topics. I went back and deactivated the "Traffic Exchange" option and now I can get on to the threads with no problem. When i activate the traffic exchange i can't get into my topics.

Why?

The features is on beta-testing for the English community.

UPDATE : Now the "similar topics" space will also display the similar topics contained in your forum.

I have phpBB2 and I selected it when this was first available, but did not update my template. I decided, I didn't want to go to the trouble.

And then.... the "similar topics" suddenly showed up this morning.
I'll try it, but it may not be something I'll keep.
Some of the "similar topics" are not similar at all.

Update: I tried it out though the day.
I removed it. Good idea but not for me. I'll wait until Beta is over and try again. The links to other topics were just not at all similar to my sites topics.

It will come there too, just in due time, most likely the next update - This is an ENGLISH ONLY update.

I wouldn't have the vaguest of idea's as to why PHPBB3 & Invision don't have it yet.

They're working just fine on my phpbb3 forum...

Some topics don't have it though. I'm guessing there's just nothing that was related to said topic.

BTW, i rered the announcement and I misunderstood it... Kekekke... Anwyays I already enable it and add the code. But I can't see anywhere the "Similar Topic Box"~ Hmm

I'm using phbb2~

i have just turned mine off because as other people said , all of the "similar topics" are not similar at all , all unrelated to my forum so until it is fixed / updated i will not be putting it back again

Yep same for me some of the links are not relevant to my forum and I also noticed it sends you to other forums that don't have it on. so you give them visitors but they don't give you any back.

I like the idea but it needs more work.

i think it needs a lot of work on it before it should be put into the froums

You people do know its in the beta stage which means its still being worked on and improved.

I activated this when it became available and I noticed a marked increase in traffic but not in membership numbers.

Perhaps the programmers of this could somehow set this up so that when it goes searching for similar topics it could do so on similarily related sites.

For example if someone has a site about a particular game, the search engine could search for the sites that have the same game name associated with them.

This would make a serious improvement in drawing people to the sites that have it activated and may increase forum traffic and membership a lot better.

Just food for thought.

i agree , i have a diy forum and i was linked to sites about dogs , plants , trees , food . i know it will take a lot of work to get it perfect , so good luck to who ever is working on it

The update is only for English forums, if your forum is on other language, you won't have this option.
