Don't need a code. You need 2 different images and insert them into ACP > Display > image management

add these on your CSS
#i_icon_mini_new_message {
background-image: url('putyourlinkhereshawn');
width: YourImageWidthpx;
height: YourImageHeightpx;
}

change the width and height to your new message icon size,
change the url to your image url.
