im confused about the social widget though.
I have seen it on this site and it seems to change every page i click on, its also different everyday. Does it not just count upwards when someone clicks it?

When the pressure on (+1) one-time site means you suggest for someone else and pressing it twice shows that you evaluate the site to be very important

Social system really isn't anything new you could have added it by using widgets ...spam system is good. Plus sharing/bookmarking buttons must be such introduced such that they appear below every post

Nice Godfather really nice, but I hope you take the time to read this. I'm not sure what your next project is, but I hope sometime that Update the Moderation Tools. That would be really nice to have, and I really hope you look at the suggestion sections to, which I'm pretty sure you do and are busy with other things. I would just like for the Moderation Tools to be Upgraded. Something like vBulletin's Moderation Tools. That would be nice. Thanks in regard, Nick.

How about blocking external links all together and choosing which members can use external links? Because really, all spammers need to do is just sign up and wait a week. Then they'll be able to spam as usual.

Many Thanks I just noticed it now also got a pm from a member that he was unable to do a post today. He did do a post on Sat 23/7 which was fine, but will he be blocked from posting all the time

Would be a lot better if we could actually have a list of external sites we DO allow. Otherwise, I'm not turning this "new setting" on. Lots of new members share external links on my board and they're not spammers. Forbidding them to post would be really stupid.
Edit: What the hell? Why did you enable that option in my forum? Us ADMINS should be the only ones who have control over them.
Not liking this. Not liking this at all.

Not unless they know this. You can always censor urls.

Most newbies on my forum are allowed to post external links, particularly to one main external site. Same happens here. What would happen if a member is asked to give the link to his forum for support but he's "too new" to do it? What will he do, wait a week until he's "old enough"?
Same happens with promotion forums. Members should be allowed to post their forums URLs at all times.
This may prevent some spam bots from spamming your forum, sure, but why the HELL was this added by default to ALL forums? If this thing is optional, then the default should be NO. Any member that wanted to add it could have just turned it on. Mine was turned on without me even knowing.
I had members asking why they couldn't post link in places they were allowed to. Thanks, Forumotion!

The Anti-Spam setting is a great update, anything that gives our forum a degree of more security is good news!
Not sure we'll be using the widget though, maybe in the future.
Thanks

There IS a big deal. All the newbies that tried to post links during the time that the update was made and that I happened to know this crap was turned on by default and turned it off were UNABLE to do it, just because whoever created this liked it so much and thought everyone would like it too. And guess who was blamed for disallowing newbies to do this - yup, me.CruizingComet wrote:2bad4u wrote:If this thing is optional, then the default should be NO. Other people may find this helpful, and that's OK, but some of us don't. Not the ones that need to allow newbies to post links or e-mails. That's how it has always been, and that's how it should have remained, unless YOU, MANUALLY, turned it on. It's just like, let's say, the new Twitter. People didn't get it because the Twitter owner wanted them all to have it, they got invited to upgrade, and only people who actually WANTED to have it, upgraded. The others still have the old layout. Problem? No.
What would be nice for this, as previously mentioned, is that we had some sort of PHP-based list where we could add what websites are NOT listed as "external" and therefore forbidden. We have a word censor, why not this?

The Share looks good.. and much nicer then the old social widget.
Spam update -would- be good if it could be customized and locked down to particular types of links (and even just images?) i once saw a site get hit by a bot that spammed it with pornography... and lets say it wasn't pretty.
Also how does it effect 'guest post enabled forums'? it would be better for us to be able to filter on guest enabled forums then to put the restriction onto members who in many cases need to be able to post links.
Finally.. it's a really.. REALLY bad idea to have this feature turned on by default. I expect a lot of forum admins are scratching their heads right now over why new members are complaining about being unable to post.
