Network Error only for SOME users....

Good morning.

I wonder if someone could help. Some of our users (only some) cannot access our forum at the moment at www.SealineForum.co.uk

The majority are ok so I am presuming this may be an ISP issue, but those members have contacted their ISP's and they say there isn't a problem.

I remember this happening some time ago but can not remember the solution.

Can anyone help

Thanks for trying the site Nikko. Yes, it is working for the majority, its only some members that can't access the site at the moment (and for the last couple of days)

It really sounds like a personal problem, or something like that. Internet can get screwed up...happens a lot..

Thanks for the response Nikko and I would normally agree about it being a personal problem, but it's happening to quite a few members in completely different locations around the UK....

As mentioned, I remember this happening before (about six months ago) but can't remember why...

Yea sometimes, it can also be the incorrect url problem. maybe try this and see if they can access it from here: anonymouse.org I have no idea if that will help, but other users with problems with accessing forums use that and it works. It may apply to this but its worth a shot.

I have the same problem as do a number of my users but i the same keep getting its a personal problem when it clearly isn't the case if others on other forums are having the same issues

Usually, its connection or your browser. Otherwise, there really isn't help. Try your internet, check back once in awhile, see if it works.

Thanks for your comments Nikko, but as Emmalou noted, it's not just our forum and also not particular to just one computer/connection/browser.

Is there a moderator available that could cast some light on our problems please ?

That answer is coming from other posts with the same problems, everyone is going to say the same thing.

Thank you again for your comment Nikko, but if there are other sites (which there obviously is) with the same problem then obviously there IS an issue which needs resolving.

Blaming the problem on the individual computer/connection/browser is a little like sticking your head in the sand and hoping the problem goes away - pretty pointless in my opinion, and doesn't resolve anything.. There is obviously a conflict somewhere, that is not down to individual users.

Could a moderator comment on the problems please..

I can confirm that this problem is occurring to other users that use others sites, I'm one of them.

Could it be a BT issue?

Surely if it was a BT issue then we wouldn't be able to get on any forumotion sites and this isn't the case with me.

Are your members that are having a problem local ?

I have sent an email to our users that are having a problem asking what ISP's they are using. Bit early for a reply, but one that has already responded said that they are using BT......

I am using Talk Talk and am not having a problem..

Just grasping at straws Emmalou. I would guess that this is a Formation issue and not a server issue.

No my co-admin is in durham and is having the same she said it's now the second time this week it's been like it

I take it you are using BT then GOB ?

A few days ago our site started to run very slowly with it taking an age to load until for me, it finally wouldn't load at all, for others it works fine and they have had no experience of a problem.

Yup, I'm using BT but as others are saying, it's not just me using BT.

Ok, this is why i said "it sounds like" i never said it is. a lot of people are having trouble with this, so your going to have to wait for this problem to be resolved by someone much higher up if this many people have the same error.

Exactly Nikko - that's why I have put the post up. Without people noting the problem no one will know there is a problem in the first place.

The problem now seems to have been resolved for me, things are back to normal.

Thanks for letting us know GOB, I have just emailed our users who have the problem to see if they can access the site now.....

Our members are now getting in ok.
