Lock announcements Empty Lock announcements

Post by Darren1 December 24th 2011, 11:25 pm

Hey all,

Just like to put it out there, this ever so annoying section seems to become ..... too active .... and from quite while ago...

Id like to suggest that we lock the announcements section, in either of these ways, (unless someone has a better idea Very Happy )

1) Completely re-lock the announcements, move (and make a shadow topic so it still shows in the AP) to the GD
Or,
2) Lock every topic that isn't in use, aka, the domain one.

This would be a long term solution, because we wouldn't have to keep having this suggestion, and people randomly bumping posts from quite a long, long time ago.

The choice is for the staff, the voting is to choose to do the locking.

Cheers,
Darren.

The only reason why its open is because of the announcement that the Godfather posted on Friday. I'm pretty sure its going to be closed once its over.

I don't know. I don't mind having users post in the announcements section but if it becomes troublesome and users are posting in old topics then we can also lock the older topics. Either way, I'm not voting on any side here.

The only thing that can't be done is locked the topics. That will make the topics not show up in the announcement area in the admin panel and on the main site.

Oh right, now I understand. In that case, yes I agree the whole section itself should be locked in order to prevent people from bumping old topics. Like MrMario said, it's probably going to be locked after the event.

Well, clearly having topics from over a year ago isn't going to show up, so maybe lock just those ones?

Or maybe an announcements archive, and every few months topics are moved or pruned into the announcements archive?
Prevents people from bumping old topics, and keeps them in the announcements section Lock announcements Mouais

How about locking only the ones that need no replies?
