As far as I know, this option was already removed from newer forums So this means only the old forums has this option. The only way to remove ads is through credits.

You can set up the donation system where members can donate to the forum:
Administration Panel > Misc. > Credit Management > Donations

If your forum has a great forum activity, you may earn for a free domain name but not for free removal of ads as we've not heard it happened from anyone from the past.
