Error submitting themes to Hitskin

Hi all,

I am trying to submit a theme to Hitskin from my forum.

Step 1 goes fine, but the page for Step 2 appears to be completely blank and I cannot get any further from there.

I have tried various browsers and the same problem exists with all of them. Any advice or ideas?

Have you checked to see if the theme was exactly submitted?

Thank you for your Report on this matter before we make a report to our tech team can you please make sure you Don't have Ad's Blocker on your browsers and you have cleared your browser cache.
Remember you will also need to let cookies in on your browser as this keeps data used to upload files.

So far I've tried the newest Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer on my PC. I also tried iOS Safari and iOS Chrome on my mobile using a different network, but all of them have the same problem: the page for step 2 is blank, and I cannot get any further.

I'm not using adblock, all of the cookies are allowed and running, and clearing of the cache didn't work either (I don't think this has to do with cache since the problem exists on all of the browsers and devices I have tried).

I don't find any skins that I have tried to submit with the search tool, and they also haven't appeared to the "my skins"-page on my Hitskin profile. But the funny thing is that the title of the skins seems to get to the database, since the form said every time that "Title is already in use" when I try to submit a theme on a different browser, so I had to change the title of the theme every time I tried again to get it through. But when I try to search for skins with a title that the form told "to already be in use", I get no results.

The good news is our tech team have been notified about this problem.
I have been told it could be down to a problem with some CSS files you have installed on your forum BUT we are not sure yet so we are looking in to it for you.

Try going over your CSS files and then see if you have any codes not working or things missing on them.
Also any repeated codes.

Also can we please have a link to the forum skin you are trying to upload so we can run tests our self.

I'm not sure how to post a link directly to my theme, but it is the current theme of my forum, here's the link.

I have customised my css at some extent, but I don't get any errors on the browser console from it so it should be working fine. I also don't have any duplicate elements in the CSS document.

Hello @Jassu L. just to let you know there is some items on your forum (Images) that are not safe.


It maybe they are still in HTTP and should be HTTPS as you have a SSL certificate and all images should be now in HTTPS to remove any warnings.

This may not fix the problem but it will help you and others using your theme / Skin.

So look in your forum skin for any images with .svg and then re-upload them in one of the following png, jpg et gif This will fix your problem I hope.

@Ape Oh, thanks for noting that out. Unlike your browser, Google Chrome shows all the http-content on https-pages without any problems or warnings so I hadn't even noticed that the forum was again on the HTTPS mode and some of the images weren't showing to some users. I think it's better for our forum to use the HTTP protocol because the forum has loads of content from HTTP pages

The problem is if you use HTTP and not HTTPS google finds your forum as not safe and will not list your site as it should and your get a warning saying your forum is not safe to your members and you will loose your member and members will not want to make an account so it is best to fix the ones that are in http even if it takes some time and you get help to do this,

I use Firefox to see the problems and MS-Edge

My advice is to keep it as it is but change the icons you use to HTTPS this will fix the main problem you have if you like i can help with the the icon that is the problem by remaking it for you.

Oh ok, thank you for the information. In that case I will reconsider the protocol in use. My forum is relatively small and I don't have a lot of user traffic from search engines since the topic of the forum is kinda niche, so I don't think using the HTTP would cause a lot of user loss for me... But I'll think about that later.

Wow - I'm so glad you found out the issue! I'm gutted about that feature. Well, I guess we have to change the vector graphic images then. Good bye to the perfect scalability... :-D

For future cases, though, I would suggest adding a note about this issue to Hitskin, since there are many vector graphics users worldwide and the "blank page for step 2" wasn't really clarifying what was the issue with my theme I'm glad I know it now, thanks to you and the tech team.
