database - database system Empty database system

Post by _Twisted_Mods_ February 9th 2015, 3:25 am

i would like to suggest forumotion give developers a database to store data in for creating projects .. because as of right now if we need a database we are stuck using topics to store data and this wouldnt be such a bad thing but there are to many security flaws not to mention sending and receiving of data takes longer then if we had a real database .. the only other option i can think of is to force us to keep using topics to hold data but if your going to do this atleast give us a better option then making out members mods so they can edit a topic. perhaps give us another option in the acp for forums so we can let members edit topics in that forum or a use as database option

so basically should users be able to have there own database to store data?

It'd be an unlikely addition considering there's other threads with really simple suggestions that date back years that still haven't been added; but I'll go ahead and vote yes.

And those who voted "no" -- if you don't mind, could post your reason(s) why you think it shouldn't be added, just so we can know why you think it'd be a bad idea?

I think it would be a good move on FM's side but i will say this thou.
I Think if you want this sort of thing then you should pay some thing for it (Credits) for say a year as We are a Free forum site and server and data centers cost lots of money to keep running

So YES you have my Vote only if you help pay for the service

I don't really know if giving anyone access to the database would be a good idea. People find ways to mess up a forum only with css/templates, I don't even want to know what would happen if they had access to the forum db. And having a database would be pretty useless without access to the server to be able to use php or other server-side language.
