Mobile version - adding new post/last post buttons and emoticons

Hello,

I'm having some issues with the mobile version of my forum and was hoping someone could help
Forum is set up in phpBB3 version, not sure if that is important for this issue.

I find reading the topics is a bit difficult on my iPhone as when I click on the title of the topic it always opens the first post and I need to scroll down to see the new ones. Is there a way around it? Is it possible to set up last post/new post buttons?

Also, I have a round blue writing icon sitting in the bottom right corner which has the same function as a 'reply' field so I'm not sure if the functionality of it is working properly on my phone. It's also quite big and in the way when I'm reading. If it has to be there, is it possible to make it smaller?

Some of the members asked about adding emoticons on the mobile version, but as far as I understand it is not possible to add them?

Any help is much appreciated as I'm a complete newbie.

I will be more then happy to help you on some of your problems today.



Problem 1
ACP >> General Tab >>   Forum >>
Categories and forums >> go to each forum listed and one by one click on the little yellow cog >> you will then see a small list you need to look for the following 2 settings.
set them to....
Sort topics by : "most resent first"
Sort the posts of a topic by : "most resent first"

you will have to do this to all your forums and save each one as you go on.
The only problem is it can't be just done for the mobile system it is for all the forum system there is no way to change it just for your mobile.

Could you please post a screen shot of what you see with the blue thing your talking about?

Sorry right now there is no tool to add the Emotes in to the mobile system.
We are still new to the mobile system and we are working hard on getting us up to date.

thanks both for your replies I really appreciate it.

SLGray, there's only number of posts next to the title, please see the image bellow. This is screenshot of the homepage. Wherever I click inside the field it goes to the first post of the topic.

Also, I forgot to mention this earlier, mobile version does not remember last read post. When I view forum from my laptop afterwards it takes me back to the posts I already read when on mobile.



APE I'll try to change it now, but I'm not sure how it will afect the desktop version? Desktop version already has last and new post icons and it works?

Regarding the blue button here is the screenshot


It's not on the home page, but it is on all the other ones. If I'm outside of a topic it creates a new one. However, if I'm inside of one it creates new post, even though it still has a title option, so basically has the same function as a reply button. Both 'test test test' topic and 'testtesttest' post on my screenshot are created with the round button. Maybe it shouldn't be inside the topic?

APE I tried what you suggested, but that's not what I'm trying to achieve. That way I'm reading the discussion backwards. What I meant was - is it possible to activate little 'go to new post' and 'go to last post' buttons? I think on this forum little black arrow next to the name has that function.

What happens when you switch to classic version?

I don't have that option. I opened my forum few days ago, after this release. I think only modern mobile theme is available.

Top right menu? Switches to desktop version. No matter which version I use on my mobile - mobile or desktop, it does not remember posts I already read

Is there a plan to do something about this? I can't use forum from my mobile at all as it marks everything as read when I switch to the laptop. It makes following discussions impossible. And functionality practically does not exist if there is no option to go to the first new post.

You need to switch versions before you log onto the forum.

It does not matter which version I use, all posts are marked as read, happens with both classic and new mobile version.

Also, I would like to use mobile version on mobile devices as it's simple and clean, but at the moment I don't see the point of having it when you can only reply and not follow and read the topics properly. I don't understand the comment re switching to classic version, why have mobile version then at all? It needs few simple actions to make it awesome and fully functional. I hope whoever is in charge of it will reconsider adding at least 'new post' button.

The mobile version is exactly still in beta testing. This is one of the reasons why it does not have all the features. It takes time to implement and test all the features. Some features will never be available because they are not compatible with mobile devices.
