Re: uninvited ads by google
Hello doggyhse,
This is because your advertisements as set only viewable to guests. There are four options to choose from. All, Members, Guests and No.
All: All members and guests can view the ads.
Members: Only members can view the ads.
Guests: Only guests can view the ads.
No: Ads are disabled to everyone.
Regards,
Base

Re: uninvited ads by google
It is under General> Forum> Configurations, However I noticed on my site that the "No" option is no longer available. I must admit, i find the ads really tacky, and i think it drives away potential members. If there is no way to eliminate them anymore, i really think we need to have a way to make them slightly more discreet, like perhaps as a widget on the side of a Portal Page or Something, the bottom of the page would even be better

Same goes for me...I didn't have ads show up until after I contacted one of the administrators about a unrelated issue. I think once they saw that my forum was taking growing...they added the ads.darthstich wrote:I noticed on my site that the "No" option is no longer available.
Or - do the ads automatically kick in once the member base or total post count grows?

Re: uninvited ads by google
It's interesting.
I run more than one forum.
The main forum which gets most traffic is a "love and Light-spiritual" forum with S.W.A.T assualt type ads...which is kinda funny if you think about it, but NOT funny if it would make someone second guess about joining.
Not all the members see the ads either. which is another interesting thing
The other forums have NO ADS what-so-ever. even with the same settings.
I am supposing it has something to do with the fact that the main forum was submitted for google search etc. and the other forums aren't.

Re: uninvited ads by google
Do you still have the "no" option for activating ads in the general settings? I used to...now I can only select "guest" if I don't want my members to see the ads. How many members and posts do you have on your forums?Psi-chotic! wrote:I am supposing it has something to do with the fact that the main forum was submitted for google search etc. and the other forums aren't.

u might be right. think forumotion might have added the uninvited google ads due to the growing of member to the forum and increase the adsense credit to forumotion account. i just couldnt find any google script in the script page. Can any of the forumotion mod explain?

No I don't have the "NO" option anymore. Never had the NO option on the main forum (the one submitted to google search etc)
compared to other forums we don't have that many members or posts.
65 members /3581 posts.
as for the other 2 forums one is closed to members now (only 3) and one is test.

Re: uninvited ads by google
anyway i still find that the forums board are great and useful.. we as an advertising firm are quite sensitives for the ads forumotion place in our forums. hope that the decision maker mod can do something about it.
