People posting bloody pictures and continuously spamming....lil help?

This isn't about stolen graphics this time..... it's about an even worse problem.

People keep spamming Club Penguin Planet posting tons of spam, password phishers, porn, people when their all bloody in the middle of surgery, etc. Disabling BBcode and HTML does nothing, disabling user registration does nothing, we can't put a stop to it!

I'm former staff from there, I just left for a month break. So yeah.

What else can we do? The phisher, disgusting pictures, etc is really getting on my nerves. ._.

Disable html in all posts, problem sorted.
If you have a gallery set it to approval only, problem solved.

I'm not an admin. When we get an admin to do it, they either say "no" or its enabled again an hour later.

The staff gets as many ips as we can but they use tons of proxies. No matter how many ips we ban, they still get more proxies.

That is a serious problem you've got there...

Maybe you should report this problem immediately to Typlo or any of the staff member here for immediate action.

Well what can be done? I'm clueless on that part. They've done the same thing to other forums (see Club Penguin's thread in this forum as an example)

They come back no matter what, and the staff tries as hard as they can.

One more tip, don't know if you would like it.
New members activation: To be done by a admin
Do it for a while, see if it they persist.

They make unsuspecting names and use unsuspecting emails. I've been a temporary admin in the past and I've looked at their names and email.

Example: They just made an account named "snowqueen" and started spamming with the disgusting pictures. Unsuspecting name much?

You guys already have more than 5500 members, why not stop the registration of members for a while. Won't hurt much, will it?

Maybe you should stop any more members registering for the time being, until you can successfully rid your forum of the spammers. Once you ban/delete them, it will stop them re-registering straight away.

When things have settled in a week or two let members register again. The spammers may get bored and go away.

We've been getting spammed nearly everyday for the past month or two. We have like over 400 banned accounts.

And those 5,500 members aren't entirely active, plus the admins can be a bit stubborn at times, and they'll just say "no".

Edit: by the way, their's no admins on CPP at the moment.....and there won't be for like another few hours or something...and we're still getting spammed.

Then there's not a lot anyone can do. If Admin's really want to resolve this they would do whatever has to be done.

You have to take some decision regarding it. There is a choice to give up on new members for a while or continue with those spammers ruining the board.
There is a price you have to pay for popularity.

Is their anything Forumotion can do? Phishing is illegal, after all....

They have disabled users before. For a day or two at times. Then they just enable it again..

I suggest you forward one of the pics to an admin on here as I'm sure whoever is posting them is breaking international law.

We delete them seconds after they post them....we're lucky staff is on. I'll try to get an image link or two. There was one where a person's stomach was ripped open during surgery and you could see lots of stuff of the inside body... that's all I wanna say.

I mean we have people ranging in ages, the lowest being 8 or 9.

Okay, finally an admin came on. We're safe.... for now.

I looked in our basket and saw we had 5-6 pages of spam from the past 12 hours.

I collected about 6 images that they posted.... their on my computer.

I don't wanna PM them to an admin on here because it might scare the crap out of them.

What now? xD

iWaddle, there is nothing much you could do except disallowing members from registering.
Forumotion, could do something about bots from spamming but from people its not possible.

if you still want new member maybe you can make a newbie group and add all new members to it, dissallow that group from posting in advanced forum permissions , this will allow you to get a feel for a member and keep an eye on ip, just a thought.

There has to be some law broken with the pictures or password phisher, right? I know phishing is illegal, but what about all these cannibal pics?

iWaddle, there is nothing illegal about someone spamming on your forum and posting bloody images. If the images are porn, then yes it is illegal against ForuMotion; but the best bet for you is to just ban those users. They might come back on another IP, so just ban that IP.

About those cannibal pics, those can be very bloody, but it doesn't mean that it's illegal. Contact Caihlem on this forum. He's the one that can manage the best outcome for this problem.

Open your phone book to the "f" pages look for the listing for FBI then ring them and ask if it is illegal or not.
I think you'll find strange men taking your computer away and you with it within an hour.
It isn't just illegal it is very illegal.
Forumotion if they wanted could put a stop to it, the servers are run by them so ultimately it's forumotions responsibility.
