Changing the colour of Chatbox?

How do you change the colour of the Chatbox? By this I mean the background, font colour (if possible) and left hand menu (where it lists online/away users)

Go to your forum's Administration Panel and click on the Display tab. Along the left, click on "Colors". The CSS for your forum should now appear. Scroll through the CSS until you reach the Chatbox section.

Change the appropriate color codes to the new ones you want. Then save your changes.

Do you mean the screen where you can change text colour, link colour etc? I clicked on all of them and the background of Chatbox wasn't highlighted.

If you mean the CSS Stylesheet, in the box it is blank. If you then mean I click on the 'See your forum basic CSS', I dont know where the Chatbox part is because there is so much writing.

I don't get the list of colors like you stated in the first part. Don't know why, but I was referring to the CSS Stylesheet.

Press CTRL + F and then type in "chatbox" and press enter. It should find the chatbox part of the CSS for you.

Okay, thanks. It's really hard because I'm not sure which one to change.

Yeah. I'm not sure what one to change either, so your best bet is to copy and paste the CSS into notepad and save it. That way, when you play with your CSS on your forum, and don't like the outcome, you can simply add the original CSS back.

Okay, cheers for the help anyway. I tried changing the background colour but nothing happened.

That's not a problem. I'm not particularly good with coding, but I have seen members on there are professional coders (at least, they should be if they aren't).

so you located this part of the CSS

and changed the background color...and it still didn't change?
that's all you should really have to do.
NO, i'm not a coder, but just someone who has succesfully done this.

The only thing I can see relating to the background is this:

background-color: #transp;

That appears numerous times throughout the CSS stylesheet.

Also, do I have to copy and paste the basic CSS stylesheet into the blank box for it to work?
