When Purchasing Domain? Empty When Purchasing Domain?

what if we purchase our own domain, does the links in my forum affected and need to replace with the new domain name or it will still use the old link?
For example:
my old domain > http://w.ww.sample.forumotion.com/chatbox.htm
and the new domain name is > http://w.ww.notsample.com

can i still use the htm in my old domain with my new domain without replacing the name?

If you buy a new domain you will have an option of whenever someone types your old domain they get redirected to your new one.
