where to insert this code (script)?

ok, i have this code i want to insert in index.htm so that my index page is my portal page, i am inserting it in alot of css sheets and templates but doesnt seem to work... does anybody know where i can insert this code to make my index page become my portal page? thanx so much in advance for help.

If you want your portal to be your Default page follow these steps

Admin Panel>>>Modules>>>Portal management>>Show the portal>>>Yes>>>save

thank you for info... actually i wanted to change the hover link on the banner, and i did figure it out in the portal template, and it worked to my advantage even... so sorry for being a pest and again thanks...

problem solved, lol, trash it.... and have a great day...
