Solved GoDaddy Domain

Post by Cjanz July 13th 2009, 11:06 pm

I just bought a domain name from GoDaddy assuming it would work since you are allowed to enter a personalized domain name for the forum in the case of owning one outside of Forumotion's services.

Unfortunately, I'm having a problem with the domain being used as the actual URL for the forum.

I continue to get this message - The supplied domain name is not well configured
Your CNAME must redirect to : the-gathering.top-talk.net

The problem with this is that my CNAME does indeed redirect to my forum as you can see here - www.the-gathering.net

Any suggestions?

Hello,

You cannot use GoDaddy's domains. You can buy a domain if you do have Allopass or PayPal.

useme don't get mad at me for something I don't know about. If I mad a miskate I made one big deal but yelling at me for this is a big NO! If you have a problem for what I did you PM me ONLY so it does not lead on the board, but having you tell me off earns you a first warning.

Solved Re: GoDaddy Domain

Post by Cjanz July 17th 2009, 12:06 am

The problem is that I spent money on this domain with the impression that it would work.

Let me go over this again. I bought the domain the-gathering.net from GoDaddy. It already redirects back to my forum when entered as a URL. The problem is that when it redirects my forumotion domain is still in place.

So, I know that in order for this to be resolved that I needed to enter it as my personal domain. I did this, and it gives me the error stating that the domain MUST redirect back to my site. Well, it does redirect back to my site.

I'm a tad upset because I feel like I've wasted my money. If someone in tech can please answer this question, that would be appreciated. We need a knowledgable answer because this seems like a recurring problem.

Okay, I read that and followed the procedure. Everything works properly up until the point of actually entering it as my personal domain on forumotion. It's still saying that the url doesn't redirect.

Solved Re: GoDaddy Domain

Alright, so I've finally gotten it to be accepted as my domain on forumotion. The only problem is that it STILL uses my free domain top-talk.net.

It said that the domain name is validated and that my personal domain is now the-gathering.net.

I'd appreciate any suggestions as to what I might've done wrong.

Hi,

you sub domain from forumotion will work fora few months after the new domain is in use, there's no way of changing that.

(I think that's what your latest question is, im a bit confused I don't really know much about domains)
