Hacking Threat
Hey everyone. I just created a forum which is centered around a certain band. Long story short, the old forum, which was full of nasty people who hate the lead singer (who also happens to be my boyfriend), has been shut down due to slanderous comments about said singer..Anyway, the people of the old board are starting to talk and there is coming a huge backlash to my forum. I know that they are going to try to hack my site, and I need to know how to prevent it. I want to change the admin/site password to something really really complicated, but I dont know how. Also, are there any other tactics I can use to prevent them from hacking into the site? Thanks very much in advance.

All you need is a safe password something like
e3u21exe78z3n
Completely random. Never give your password out, don't reply to any email sent to you from Forumotion.

You just put the new password you want in twice then hit save.
be sure you remember what ever it is you change it to.
may be put it in a note pad on your computer so you dont forget.

Sorry for not being helpful, but if they know what they are doing, secure password wont do much.
And no, there is nothing you can do.

Re: Hacking Threat
sorry yeah thats what I mean. I ust cant find where to go to change the admin panel password.
I dont think these people know what they are doing. They like to think they do, but at any rate I want to do everything I can to make it more difficult for them.

Re: Hacking Threat
Good idea
You can't set a password for the admin panel, you have to change your personal password

Re: Hacking Threat
Change your password, since they will have to get in your account to use the admin panel

ACP>Members>(pick your username)>Change password>Save.
Basically go to your profile.

@MistressXavialun, to increase your forum security for administration access, do the following:
1. Go to Admin Panel and choose General.
2. Click on Security.
3. Check the box "Confirm password to administration access" and click Save.
4. From now on, when you want to access your forum's admin panel, you must enter your password again!
Best regards,
