Solved Direct Link Help!

Post by Casterina November 24th 2009, 5:35 pm

Hey guys,

I don't know if I have posted this in the correct section but how do I make a section that when someone clicks on it, it will direct them to another website?

Hello,

You can do it with HTML.
But what do you mean by 'Section'? You want to put some text link or image link?

I mean like if I make a Vote section and people click on it, it will direct them to the voting website

To make a link, you can use this BBCode...

Code:
[url=LINK TO WEBSITE]TEXT TO DISPLAY[/url]

or this HTML code...

Code:
<a href="LINK TO WEBSITE">TEXT TO DISPLAY</a>

Change the details in there. Link to website : www.hitskin.com
Text to Display: Hitskin

It will appear something like this then
Hitskin

Code:
[url=www.hitskin.com]Hitskin[/url]

All you have to do is place the link and name in the code below.
then that will be the name of the section.

Code:
<a href="THE LINK HERE" class="postlink" target="_blank">THE NAME OF THE SECTION HERE</a>

here is an example on my test forum. do you see where i have
(forumotion support forum)

http://evolymrobynb.forumotion.net/index.htm

So thats how you do it. but in my opinion it's a wast of a whole section because it's redirecting you somewhere else and you dont have access to post on the board/section you created. so it's a wast of a whole forum... lol
.But it's your forum so you can do what you want.

As far as haveing how many times that redirected link has been clicked?
i am not sure they probably have a code i9n there forums description for that .plus that appears to be a paid ip forum.

You know another thing. now you are misleading your members to another place they are not aware of.So they think there clicking to gain access to the board on your forum but now they are being redirected without there awareness..

So dunno things like that can sometimes make people angry.
I would write something in the description so they know they will be redirected to another site by clicking the name of the section.
