Someone is threating my forum!
Today some guy came to my forum and he was saying about shutting down my site and he also said something about taking my ADMIN POWER. I ban his account and his IP, but I think he is using proxy. He keeps creating more accounts.
These are the two IP I banned:
64.233.172.6
75.17.86.228
1. What do I do right now?
2. How can I get rid off him?
3. Will my site get deleted or ban?

Re: Someone is threating my forum!
You could make it that only admin can activate an account (instead of the user)
Make sure your accounts and email addresses passwords are secure.

Re: Someone is threating my forum!
I'm not sure. I don't think that he can take your admin rank away unless he promotes himself or hacks your account. You could update your forum's security so that the person can't hack it. I don't think that users can promote themselves to an admin rank though. But just like Reverse said, make sure that everything is secure. I think that you should report those IPs to his ISP. I'm not sure how though.
Re: Someone is threating my forum!
make sure you ban the ip's Email address and he's name and keep a log in your staff room if you have one or on note pad.. im sorry that is all you can do
you may want to change your password to soemmthing really hard but keep a note of it in your home so he can not get your account..
also you could do as the other member said and make it so all your new accounts for the time been be ok'ed by you and you only. that way he should get board and go away.
also if you have a Contact part on the bottom of your forum remove that as he can still pm you useing that part of your forum banned or not ..
Hope tha was of some help to you

Ok everyone, but is there any other options besides the ones above?

Re: Someone is threating my forum!
Ok, but one more question how do you activate CAPTCHAs when you register because I don't want people to keep spamming my forum by creating more accounts using a bot.

Ok, but how do you put CAPTCHA on the registration page?

Re: Someone is threating my forum!
bot's like google and bing and so on are all safe on your forum.
If you are still getting spam then it's a member in your site doing it not your bots they don't post in your site just read the info on the page it's looking at for the site to be placed on a search engine that is all.
this post may help you out with stopping some spam but if it's a member then all you can do is warn them and ban them if thay keep doing it.

The 64.233.172.6 IP is a confirmed proxy the other 75.17.86.22 I'm not sure of is out of Texas very close to me you may want to report them to there ISP: SBC Internet Services.
Good luck & don't let it get ya down.

Re: Someone is threating my forum!
Just watch out for him. But for saftey I am going to ban those IPs now so I am at less risk.
Re: Someone is threating my forum!
report them they are likiely to face charges cause hacking is a crime
Re: Someone is threating my forum!
if he ever does hack your forum you have his ip.
and its illegal to hack.
give him a warning, telling him the actions you can take and he will most likely get scared and leave you alone.

Re: Someone is threating my forum!
It doesn't really work if he uses proxy. But you can always get the law enforcement involved if its serious enough.
Re: Someone is threating my forum!
Thanks a lot guys. That guy left my site forever. I hope he won't come back.
