I need help with my new forum!

okay, so my forum is locked. down the bottom it says new posts, no new posts and forum is locked. i looked at that post where it shows you how to unlock it, but the problem is it wont unlock. here is what i do:
i put it on advanced.
go into users and groups.
then to user options.
allow new members. it was already on yes. and i clicked save. but to no avail. what is wrong? i want my forum open to the public and i dont know what to do.
and another thing. the font. i want to change it. like when you are writing a new post or a replie. i just want plain black, something smaller, and a font like tahoma...

So, any help would be appreciated!

well it sound like you either have to set the permissions for the forums.

Admin panel>general>forums>forum permissions

You have to go through and set all the options as you wish.

Or it may be that you just have the forum completely locked.

for that go to.

Admin panel>general>forums>Categories and forums.

you will see the list of forums you have set up, click on the orange action gear icon, At the top you will see some options, be sure the option for Forum status :Is unlocked and hit save.

you can also set permissions there for your forums as well if you wanted to.

Now for the font size,style and color.

Go to

Admin panel>display>colors

right at the top of the list is where you can change the main text color

then go down a little bit and you will see where you can change the font style for Title font,Main font and Code font

Then right under that is your font sizes

be sure to hit save when you change any options.

the second thing where you said if i had my forum completely locked. i go there and i see no orage forum status. when i go in there instead, i have options like:
Guests
User :
Group Members :
General :
from which i can choose from. i am sorely confused! or am i doing something wrong like i usually do!

you not in the right place.

Admin panel>general>forums

you will see the list of your forums, click on the orange gear icon

then you will see this list at the top

Choose the kind of forum you want :
Forum name :
Attached to :
Position this forum after :
Copy forum permissions :
Forum status :
Sort topics by :
Sort the posts of a topic by :

Be sure Forum status : is unlocked, then hit save

they are all already unlocked! now what?

set all your forum permissions one by one in the same place. next to the orange gear you will see refresh then a red x over top a green check

click that and set all your forum permissions accordingly, then hit save.
Now go through the list for all the other forums and do it one by one that way.

then if your still unable to resolve the problem, you will have to send me a temp admin account user name and password,I will have to go in and see what the problem is.

If you have to send me a temp account, be sure it has admin powers and DO NOT POST THE USER NAME OR PASS HERE,SEND TO MY PM, Then you can change the pass once i finish

But that will be a last resort, try what i said above first.
