how do u lock forums?

how do u lock a whole forum section with like a password or something to unlock it? cuz u make a pic for locked forums but i dunno how to do it. plz help

You can't lock a forum with a password but you can lock it in order to prevent other people from posting in it. To lock a forum go to admin panel=>Forum=>Management=>Categories and forums and click on this icon 
next to the forum you want to lock. On the next page look for this option "Forum status" and choose "Locked" then click the save button.

ok now im having troubles again, when i click the gear thing i dont see forum status anywhere

Are you sure you clicked on a forum? Categories won't show this entry...
