member getting redirected to malicious sites from our log in page
I talked to a couple of people with extensive knowledge of running boards. It is possible an ad on the log in page is responsible. So I will go over to help forum of our host about it; see what is going on and get help. One of their advertisers has a virus redirecting you and leaking script all over the page likely.member wrote:Well...I know that my p.c. is fairly secure from that...so no...I don't think it had been infected...yet!
It's just that when I log off it seems that a bug/program tries to 'redirect' me to malicious websites...and it only has happened when I log off from here. I.D.K. ... but I'm personally not going to post again in public viewing spots. Alright?
take care...thanks again...have a good night...dan
Has anyone else had this problem?

Hello,
This shouldn't happen. What did you recently install on your forum? Any new codes, smiles? Do you have HTML off on board and profile?

We didn't install anything in the last few months and last I checked, within the last couple of weeks, HTML is still turned off. The only changes I did make was to add a new admin and allow new members to pm and post links. The only two who used that are now well established active members of our board, a month later. (Our board is rather small and was in a lull for a bit.)

And only one member reported this? If so might be something on user side which means user has an infected computer.

Re: member getting redirected to malicious sites from our log in page
That was the first thing I suggested he check; he claims his computer is clean. However most of our members use firefox with adblock so it is hard to know. I have been running into similar problems on other sites (not forumotion's) with infected ads and yes, first thing I do a thorough check on my computer.
I will post a query to the membership about this problem to see if anyone else has had it.
In the meantime, would you check to see if any ads run on the log in page are infected? Infected ads in general is an increasingly common problem.
New information: Another user was testing for this and found that when she refreshed our index page while logged out, was redirected to Amazon instead. So it is a problem with the board. This just happened.

Link to your forum so that we can check? Its not possible that it would get redirected to any site until you click some ad on the forum.

Followup; we did trace this to his computer and another infected site, not ours. So the matter is resolved.
But there is the other matter of another member getting redirected to amazon when she refreshed the log in page, so here is a link to our board: http://funhsps.niceboard.org/
