Solved Admin/owner absent

Post by darthtatty Thu Mar 01, 2012 11:02 am

The owner on a site I use has been mainly absent for the past 2 years-however they did log on last June.
They have not given full control of the site to anyone. However there were other Admins to do the basics to keep the site running.
Recently everyone has drifted away and we were left with 1 Admin-although the others are still registered.

I am a moderator on the site, however the last remaining Admin asked me if I would be an Admin too- to help out.
I agreed a few weeks ago but she has not activated me yet.

However yesterday she has decided she no longer wants to be an Admin.

If I could somehow take control of the site via the details in the recovery/founder of the site topic.

Do we need agreement from all the admins/moderators that are listed on the site but are no longer contactable?

ETA-I have looked into setting up a new site, however the board is fairly busy and I dont want to lose the great information on the site we have.

Solved Re: Admin/owner absent

Hi, ive already read that-it was my question in bold I really needed answering.

It states you need to post a list of all special users-I do not have access to do that as I am only a Moderator.

Also the main thing I wanted to know is-
you need to get an agreement from any Admin and moderators.
However the registered owner, admin and moderators of the site are AWOL and we have tried to contact them with no luck. so I cant get their agreement.
do you need agreement from all admin and moderators registered-even though they have not been online in months?
we only have 1 admin who is unable to get online much due to family commitments, I think If I could take over the site we could sort it out again and appoint new staff.

any options? otherwise we are stuck. Confused

The only valid option for you is the 3rd option, which one are you looking at?

yeah I thought the 3rd option was the best. Smile

It just said youd had to do the same steps as in option 2-which may be a problem.

I will see what the last surviving Admin thinks and then try to apply for access that way.

Im just worried you need permission from absent Admins/Mods.

I will try anyway-
thanks for your help Smile

Yes, it all depends whether the last admin is willing to let you have access. Ask him to read the tutorial.

Solved?
