Transfering Ownership with absent owner and admin
So... I have a quick question.
Until now we used a forum for roleplaying purposes of a browsergame.
The problem is that there is just the owner and one admin.
Hence we already created another forum and now a user told us that we could try to ask for ownership for the old forum... so yeah, maybe work for nothing, but we shall see.
The owner is gone since... I dunno. Though we cannot see how long he is absent since he hides his online status.
The admin is absent as well. Basically since the founder quit the game quite some time ago and the admin quit the game about two months ago, I think.
Now in the recovery options, there is always a need for an admin to agree. Is there a way to solve this or do we need to change to a new forum?

Ah and maybe I should add a link to this post:
https://sring.actieforum.com/t5977-ooc-moving-of-the-forum
As you can see there, we would rather stay if possible. Though until now we thought we had no other option.
And to the new forum, already quite some members transfered to there as you can see here: https://sring.forumgamers.net/memberlist
If that helps a bit...

Re: Transfering Ownership with absent owner and admin
As I said...the additional/one admin quit as well.
Hence we have no admin left. We have no way to contact him either.
That's the problem

Re: Transfering Ownership with absent owner and admin
Hello,
My apologies I missed that part. From what I believe there isn’t much else that can be done apart from what you have done and suggested which is creating and migrating users to a new forum.
Regards,
Chanel

Re: Transfering Ownership with absent owner and admin
Sorry if it bothers you, but just to be sure.
So there is absolutely no way to recover this forum?
I mean right now I have the moderator-group of basically every subforum there. And it would be really our interest to keep all the history and stuff that's there if possible...
And from the rules put up there by the founder himself: https://sring.actieforum.com/t1010-working-of-the-sring-forum
I should normally be an admin since it's said "The admin team of this forum exists out of former emperors, the current emperor/empress and one living player.". And that would be me right now. I was just never added as admin.
So do we need someone who is already an admin either way even though we no longer have an admin?
And result of that there is absolutely no way to recover it?
And may I quote your answer to the other users?

Re: Transfering Ownership with absent owner and admin
By staff you mean someone who has administrator privileges?
If yes, then no.
If yes, then no.
Re: Transfering Ownership with absent owner and admin
I am not 100% sure I got your question corretly.
There are a lot of moderator groups... so yes.
Though I am group moderator of most of them...
And there is just one group which is moderator of basically everything (aka nearly every subforum - exception for the admin corner). And I am the group moderator of that group as well.
So if you could define your question more precisely, I could answer in a better way.

Printing screen list of special users (in the admin panel, tab "User & Groups" then left, "special users")
Re: Transfering Ownership with absent owner and admin
if you can provide all the below, send them to me only by pm and i will open a ticket to our head office
i will explain the situation and its up to them to decide

The founder must be absent for at least six months and one day. The last connection should go back to that date. (Any application with an absence of less than six months & one day will not be processed.)
If there are other administrators or moderators you must provide written agreement stating that they accept that you take the status of the founder. (This agreement should be written as a message on the forum by each member concerned, otherwise it will not be valid.) You can use a poll for example or open a topic on the forum.
From there, if all the above conditions are met, you must provide:
The URL forum concerned with the recovery.
Screenshot Profile of the founder (public profile, visible to all members and if the Advanced Profile is activated, screen printing is desired that the tab "Statistics") showing the last visit of the founder (with the format of the date indicating the year: Profile -> Preferences -> Date Format).
Printing screen list of special users (in the admin panel, tab "User & Groups" then left, "special users")
Printing screen or a link to a story accessible to guests gathering the various written agreements obtained beforehand.
A new Email address never registered on any forum to be able to make the changes for the founder account.
Re: Transfering Ownership with absent owner and admin
So I can basically already forget that because I cannot fulfill this either way, right?
As the founder selected to hide his online status, his last visit isn't even shown in the public profile.
As I have no access to the admin panel and noone active there does neither, we cannot provide it.
So there is no way around?

Re: Transfering Ownership with absent owner and admin
i can confirm that the founder has not logged in for over 6 months so we can open a ticket
Re: Transfering Ownership with absent owner and admin
Okay. So do you need a poll as well?
As every moderation group that exists and I am aware of is under my "control" (aka I am the group moderator of that). At least those I am aware of...
Or should I do a poll anyway? And if yes: Is there a minimum amount of time you would like it to be opened?

Re: Transfering Ownership with absent owner and admin
just make a topic on the forum asking the rest of the forum members/staff if they are ok for you to take over the founders account
make sure the topic is visible by guests
when you are ready please post here the link of that thread
the thread must be visible and opened until the head office tell us that all is ok

Was opened for one day no, no disagreement so far. I doubt that this will change...
What else do you need now? A new email address that was not used on the forum yet?
