icons for each category

hi guys can some please help me im trying to put picture icons next to each category and forums but im at a loss of how to do this 
id like it to be kind of (a welcome pic) next to introduce yourself post.......kind of like this so were it says indycar it would say welcome and were it says forza it would say introduce yourself..thanks in advance..

Do you mean a category or a forum? I believe you can only place icons on a forum. To do this you would go to acp-->General--> Categories and forums and go to the forum you want to have the image/icon and copy and paste the image url in 'image url' and save.

Yes you can add a category picture aswell as text

Go to your ACP >> General Tab >>
 Forum >> Categories and forums >> Click the >> next to your category in the text box ad this code at the beginning

  Then Save

then do the same to all the other ones and then your done.
