why have some words started to show up as advertising links in my forum?

For example words like university and optical are now links to adverts. Why has this started today?

Hello kick,

Those are text ads and can be disabled in the Administration Panel in the General section, it's found by going to:

1) Administration Panel (advanced mode)
2) General Tab
3) Configuration (on the left, under Forum)
4) Text ads activation (underlined) : No

If that is unavaliable, you can by "credits" for your forums and remove the ads using them instead. Smile

Cheers, yeah i worked that out while waiting for a responce. Thing is i didnt turn them on they came on of there own accoard today.

Im also worried by another post i read where someones had hardcore porn pictures showing up. They were told to turn the pics off in mostly the same way but if these things can and do activate themselfs then who knows what will pop up.

Now im worried as ive set up a forum for my nephew and his mates all teenagers. If that stuff apears on that site im in trouble.

Glad to have helped.

I highly doubt that any pornographic images will appear on your forums because it is against the TOS anyway, so don't worry. If the ads do come back again, buy credits to remove them. Smile

Sorry, mate but that makes no sense as hardcore porn ad's have already been reported showing up. Girls gone wild adverts to be exact.

What i need to know is why this started today. After months a setting is changed by someone in my admin panel and this starts. Who made the decision and why. Also why is it people say if the ads turn up again buy credits. Do some get them and some not credits aside? There seems to be no logic to it from what ive read so far. If they come back should be they wont come back or they will not if.

setting is change by forumotion. why you need to buy credit? ==> because you dont own forumotion. forumotion can put their ads on your side without your approval. Hello

All of what you said is obvius and not what i wanted to know.

Whats baffling me is how its decided. From what i can gather its all rather random when and if AD's are turned on. The idea that they turn them on and i simply turn them off dosent make much sense either. Whats the point i ask myself.

Lets put it this way. The option doesn't last as far as I know. After that, The only way to get rid of them is to buy credits.

this option will disappeared sooner or latest. selecting the either option will not help in a long term. all you can do is pay $$ in this free forum. you get it? free = not owned groar

doggyhse, you are correct. The option does go away after a certain amount of activity has been made on your forums. The only thing you can do to remove those ads are to buy credits as suggested.
