Solved Homepage greeting

Post by alicia June 3rd 2009, 9:12 am

Guests looking at my forum can only see the registration page due to high security parameters being necessary to protect my members from abuse.

However I am thinking this is rather unwelcoming and putting people off registering because they cannot look at the forum first.

Is there any way I can make a welcome greeting that could show on the registration page just to let guests know we are friendly and they are welcome without them being able to see or read the forums until registered?

Thank you.

you can create an html homepage, or welcome page.

you can make a simple html with a link to your forum for members and a link to register for guests. on that homepage you can add images of your forum, or write a description.

that way guest will see a welcome page instead of a registry page right away.

if you don't know html or CSS , just google a html generator or simple free web templates.
edit the template and paste it into your homepage:

admin panel-> modules -> html management -> create new
select use as homepage for it to replace your index page.

take a look at my site ---> profile link
that is a homepage (its advanced) but thats what it does

well, when you have downloaded the template open the css file in notepad and edit them...then open the index file in the folder from default web browser, after that right click and click sorce code copy all and goto ACP-->modules-->html pages management after that paste create a new page paste the source code to the box and make it as the homepage..

Note:You must have a basic knowledge about css and html

I am so sorry, but all this is completely outside my understanding. It might as well be in Chinese.

Thank you for your replies but I think I will have to forget about this. It is all alien to me Sad

My forum is very simple and I am not well up on all the terms and concepts.
