Is there a limit of pages per topic?

Hi there

I have one topic that has 50 pages of posts, is this the maximum allowed? because for some reason a new topic has replaced it in the 'sticky' which now has 7 pages, and the 50 page one has locked and moved down the forum list.... I have tried to merge them with no success other than managing to lock both of the topics with the same name..

Any ideas please - did I set this, if so where do I change it please....

yeah there is a 50 page limit per topic and and 50 post limit within one page.

so once you exceed the limit it will do what it did and continue in another thread and make it a sticky for those to see it. you can not merge them together because it exceeded the limit..

so what happened was you exceeded the message limit.
Messages in a subject: 990 messages (once the limit reached, the subject is locked and splitted)


here's more limitations over here.


so what i always tell people is to go to the post of the thread. and place a edit in there saying that thread is continued over to the new thread location and add the link.
you can also edit this is the first post that the thread was created with.
then just edit the new sticky and let it be known that it is the continuation of that thread. that5s about all you can do

that is something that FM should look into really as I am not even 2 years old and one of my topics has exceeded already, so we may end up with part1,2,3 etc of topics?? makes it a bit messy really....

as my forum is growing I seem to be finding more and more limitations, shame...

You can always add it in the suggestions section.
but honestly how many threads are your really going to have that gets 996 replies.(or what ever that number was i forget now)
and even if it dose continue to the sticky how many people do you honestly think are going to go through every page and read every post... lol

but dunno i would just place it in the suggestions section.

or if you think you will really get a lot of these kinds of threads.
then open a forum called big thread board. this is where you can move all big threads that have exceeded along with the new stickies it creates to continue on.. at least it will help keep more things organized and it's not like your going to have a zillion threads to put in there.. so far it's just one.

Anyway.

Since the questions where answered and a couple suggestions where given i will now mark the thread a solved and lock the topic

But since you have pm me and said you where upset how i replied then locked the thread i will allow you to reply and make your points etc..

is there not a rule about double posting?

I appreciate your comments, I do not however appreciate the tone in which you put them, I find it condesending and quite rude - maybe you should review the way you answer people in future.

As you said I may only have one topic of that nature so far, but to almost make a joke of this is not acceptable. I would like an apology for the tone of your reply.

May be a bit off topic but i have forums i attend that have over 100 threads with 2000posts + in them, one even has 15k posts started in 2008. Its very very possible to have many many posts on a forums thread.
