phpbb2 - how to change forum portal news topic's font size, color, and bold

I would like to change the font associated to the news topics in the portal only, below is the answer for phpbb3, can this be done in phpbb2?

Yes i created a widget called font and input...

body {
font-size:14px;
}
</style>

I then added it to my portal placed under the news.

It did not work for me. On my widget screen it says they are html code and the forum link suggests that the "fix" supplied was for phpbb3.
