portal page?

Hey Im new here...
I just wanted to make a simple forum for a club in my college and i wanted to have a portal page...
isthere a way to have a portal page?
please say yes!!!?

Yes you may have a portal. Go on Administration panel->Modules->Portal

If I want to change the word "log in" (next to its picture) to two different longer words can I do that? or do I have to set up a new button? and will it fit or I would have to switch it around?

and am I able to change pictures of the forum icoons? I cant find them anywhere?
I might want to draw my own in gimp or photoshop...

A complete listing of all your forum icons is listed in Styles:

admin > Styles > Pictures and Colors > List of Pictures (in the left side bar)

As you click on each picture/icon, you will be taken to a page called *Modify the Pictures*, where the current pic URL is listed. Make your changes from there.

also I saw I could change the logo in the corner on the banner.
If I wanted to make whole banner change, can I just place a big logo over it? Or must I go somewhere else to change the actual banner?

Edit: oh cool I think it resizes the banner no matter what I put, is that correct?

and last thing.. when I make a description for a category the people wont see it? it never shows up?
unless I expand it with split categories on index... with full...

ok... I think im catching on here...

I see I can change the colors and stuff but about my portal page... it shows recent topics and stuff, but I dont like the bland colors it uses on the portal page. how can I change that area?

I don't think it is possible to change it without changing the color of your entire forum

Admin Panel>Styles>Colors

Might be a way to change it if you use CSS CODE, ask someone else about that tho
