New Button not working?

Hi, hope I haven't overlooked the answer to my question.  At the bottom of my home page, there is a flashing NEW button which says "New posts" and another button OLD which says "No new posts".  But when someone posts in one of the forums, the Old button does not change to the New button.  Have I missed a setting someplace?  Thanks!

I would double check the settings in the Icons for the forum which is under Pics management and advanced. It if the pictures for forum and category are not the same make them the same. Hope I described that well enough to follow but the wording for that is failing me...

If you reply to a thread or a create a new topic, it will not show up as new to you, but it will show up as new to everyone else.

@Selvester - I tried making the picture for New Forum and New Category the same - still didn't work

@SLGray - oh, I was hoping it wasn't something that stupid that I had done!!   But I did try posting a new topic under my Admin ID, then logging out, logging back in under my Member ID - the New button still doesn't show up.  If you have other suggestions, I would appreciate them; otherwise, I will just keep playing around with it ... I usually can figure it out eventually.  Thanks!
