In progress Giving permissions to a user group

If I made a "Guest" group how do I make it so that that group can only do a certain amount of things? Like what if I wanted that group to only be able to view and read messages and not write? How would I do it?

Administration Panel > General > Forum > Categories & Forums
Each forum has permissions. Check and uincheck the boxes for the Guest group. You need to be in the advanced mode. The link for it is at the bottom of each permission page.
