Forum running slow

I've done everything I can think of with it, but it is running in spurts of good connection.  I try different browsers, clean out my cookies and my cache, and nothing helps, this problem is also occurring for nearly 100 other people on my forum, are the main servers going through some form of maintenance or something? 

Out of all my attempts at success, I found that Google Chrome can run the forum in stop motion by stopping the loading process to bring up the page, but it kills the chatbox.  This leads me to believe it's a major forumotion issue, if so, is there any date of when this is going to be fixed?  I would like something to give to my members, even if it's a date they have to wait before they can even access the forum.
