Re: hiding ads for 1 group
Hi,
Not possible I'm afraid, even by purchasing credits you'd be eliminating all the ads for everyone. The only group immune from ads would be the Admins group. Even if it was possible via coding it would breech the ToS of FM.
The only workaround would be to purchase credits for ad removal, host your own ads (via google adsense or another 3rd party) and then install a script of some kind to block ads for a specific group...although I'm not entirely sure if that's even possible as I don't know much about coding.

Re: hiding ads for 1 group
Hello,
I am curious about this now, I know you volunteers cannot do anything about it, BUT I would like to know why it is against FM's TOU to modify it so that only 1 group can not see it. We DISABLE the ads altogether, make it so only guests, members, Moderators and Admins can only see or not see them. So can we not make it so 1 group cannot see it. It just makes no logical sense to me how we can DISABLE the ads altogether so they do not appear on our forum but we cannot make it so 1 GROUP cannot see. Whether 1 group cannot see or we simply disable 100% will make little difference in terms of revenue for FM. If anything it may actually benefit it. Why is it against the TOU, it makes no logical sense to me.
Thanks - Brandon

Well ad removal for everyone costs credits. FM gives the option on some forums for only Members and guests to see it while moderators and admins don't.
I mean FM will make money when you buy credits to disable Ads and if Ads are on for members and guests they make money. Imagine if you created a group and were allowed one group to not have Ads, you could have every member in that group and that would be a massive loss for FM.
The reason FM ToS state that you can't modify the Ads or do anything to disrupt them is the FM is free and Ad revenue is something FM rely on.

Re: hiding ads for 1 group
What I mean is, just let it for 1 single group and not anymore, every time you make a member his own group it is a SEPERATE group, however, if I could disable for 1 particular group the only members ADDED to that group would not be able to see ads. The reason I want to hide the ads from 1 group is because I started a VIP Membership group, this group is designed to BRING IN CREDITS, so in a sense giving us the ability to hide the ads from 1 group in particular or maybe even allowing us the option to BUY this option via any credits we get. Most VIP Memberships for most websites allow them to go ad free. I want something similar, they buy my forum Credits and give money to FM (Although they do not know they are) and I reward them VIP Status that gives them a set amount perks, it would be nice if for the money they paid for us to have credits, they at least can go ad free for their troubles. Again it is 1 of those things that make admins and founders look bad, I understand why forumotion does not allow it by default, buy can we at least buy this option with our CREDITS? Should I make a suggestion on this perhaps?

Re: hiding ads for 1 group
Well its not possible as I've said so discussing it is pointless. FM have obviously chosen to adopt a straight forward and simple method where Credits are used to disable Ads for Member and or guests. Its a straight forward system.
I mean you could suggest implementing a kind of VIP package based on credits in the suggestions section but outside this I can't suggest anything else and discussing something which isn't possible is pointless.

Thanks Derri, I just have one last question, how can I host my own ads? You said I could hide those if I got them.

Well you'd have to first purchase credits to remove FMs Ads and then go to an Ad host such as Google Adsense. However I don't know much about that. You'd have to find an Ad host first and then perhaps enquire on here or on their support system how to integrate it with your forum and then how to set up system where a specific group would not see Ads,
The advantage of hosting your own Ads is the fact you can earn money on your forum BUT you do need significant traffic for it to be profitable and you might end up loosing money if its not because you'd have to make the initial investment of removing the FM Ads via credits.

Thanks Derri I will make a suggestion. Since there is nothing volunteers can do and this thread is now pointless.... SOLVED!
Again thanks for all the help Derri!
