Technical Details

Forum version : phpBB2
Position : Founder
Concerned browser(s) : Mozilla Firefox
Who the problem concerns : All members
When the problem appeared : This morning..a member contacted me about a picture on the logo
Forum link : http://broomhildassims2.my-freeforum.com/

Description of problem

A member pm me about a picture that is showing up where the logo picture should be..now I am not seeing it just this member and I am not sure if guests can see it or not..

I have taken it off and then put it back up and it is now showing again..

EDITED: I logged out and looked at it as a guest but I am not seeing it..now this member says she is only seeing this picture on her computer not her tablet..so I am thinking someone has hacked her computer..told her to change all passwords on all her sites..change her password if she has one for her computer..if she don't have one then get one..

I think her computer has been hacked..and I feel bad for her she is only 14..and like a granddaughter...can't help her other than what I have told her to do..she is in another country..

Ask the member to clear her browser's cache and history.  If that does not work, ask her to run a scan of her computer.

@Broomhilda,

Do you have a description of what this picture looks like ? A screenshot maybe ? As a guest I see only the logo plus the two images on the left and right. Let us know. Thanks Smile

I did have her clear her browser's cache and history and had her to run a scan of her computer. Everything is ok..

I do have a picture but it is in a pm....I just copied and pasted it here..it is over my logo..but it seems that nobody else is seeing this but her..but when she keeps refreshing the page it clears up...last time I talked to her today she had blocked all sites that can follow her..I can't explain that..and everything seems to be ok now but this really bothers me..how it even got on my website to begin with and Stefy is the only one that sees this..she thought it was funny but I don't think it is funny..

Yeah... I definitely don't see that. And looking over your installed scripts, I see nothing that could cause that to happen. I believe it might be on the user's end, and they should definitely perform a scan of their computer to make sure it's not infected.

I will let her know to do another scan and change passwords and all that...I won't hear from her until Friday night she is in school through the week..and 7 hours ahead of me..

I am glad it isn't on my end..but it still worries me that something like that can get on my website..I will keep an eye open for anything unusual and let you know if anything happens..

Thank you Ange and SL Gray for your help..do we just put solved or can we keep this open until next weekend when I hear back from Stefy..

I would inform the member to run more than one scan by different anti-virus programs.  Or if she is 14, have an adult check it out.
