Solved To s or not to s

To s or not to s Https10
Option 2: 'Forcing HTTPS compatibility ("Secure" label)': This option, ticked to yes by default, allows you to decide whether the forum will force all pages into https compliance or not. What this means, when ticked to yes, the forum will ONLY load resources (I.e Images, Scripts, etc) that are https. When this option is enabled, any images or scripts that have not been hosted in https protocol will NOT be rendered by the browser and therefore NOT appear when the page is loaded. Ticking this option to 'No' or 'disabling' it will allow any images and scripts that have not been updated to https protocol to still be rendered by the browser. This option is handy if you still want any images or scripts not currently in https to still load.

My question is about option 2 . Since I had already activated my SSL Certificate some time ago . Not fully understanding it then . Only a little more so now .
As there is a large amount of content in my forum . Much of which is old and will remain http .
Unless I manually just edit an ( s ) to the http ie : https . I have done this . Is this correct ? It seems to work . Is there any problems by my doing this ?
Above it states that
" when ticked to yes, the forum will ONLY load resources (I.e Images, Scripts, etc) that are https. When this option is enabled, any images or scripts that have not been hosted in https protocol will NOT be rendered by the browser and therefore NOT appear when the page is loaded. "

I found that with it ticked to YES . My forum still loaded the http content . Just slower . I have not found anything that would NOT appear . As though I had already ticked NO . Are you aware of this ?

Thank you

Paul

Hello,

To s or not to s, what is the question ?

If your forum loads pictures hosted as http but still displays them and keeps a normal padlock, it means hoster has moved to https so pictures are both available in http and https
When compatibility is forced, forum will first try to load http content adding the missing s, if it doesn't work, in most cases, forum will host again the pictures on Forumotion servers (2img.net)

If you do not force, forum will load http pictures because it's passive content, but won't load any script (active content usually blocked by browser)

Okay . I wouldn't know about " active content " . As it does not occur these days . I'm going to try option 2 for now . I think it is better suited . As I am not that concerned with security .

Thank you
