Some users not receiving activation emails

Hello,

For the past few days, a majority of our signups do not receive the verification email when they sign up on our forums. Everyone affected so far has been using gmail. I made a test account using 10minutemail and the email came through instantly. I made another test account using a gmail account I made a couple years ago and this one isn't coming through. It's not in my inbox nor my spam folder (nor anywhere else for that matter). I made a THIRD test account using a yahoo email address and, again, the email came through within 5 seconds.

In the last 24-48 hours I've had 3 separate users with the same issue and I've had to go and manually activate them. I've double-checked that the verification/activation is done on the users' end - as I said, I created a test account with 10minutemail and the activation email came through instantly. So no issue there. All the affected users are using gmail to sign up. All of them have said it's not in their inbox, spam, or any other mailboxes.

Is there a known issue with accounts made using gmail addresses at this time?

Yes, there is an issue related to spam, under investigations.

Thank you very much Neptune, my French is a bit rusty but I understand enough, I'll let my users know this is being looked at already.

Emails like those to verify the account should not be impacted. So it's strange.

Is it possible to send to a staff member 2 or 3 e-mail addresses of someone who has not received this activation e-mail please?

Likewise, it is not in the SPAM folder?

Apologies for the delay. I've passed along the email addresses of those who said they didn't receive the email, as well as my own test account's email. The affected users claimed they checked their SPAM folders (as that was my first suggestion as well) and did not find it there.

I checked my test account just now and it looks like it did come through to my main inbox (not SPAM) eventually, though it took several hours, and my second verification email I originally sent came through minutes after that as well. On the other hand, my test accounts for other hosting providers (yahoo, hotmail, 10minutemail) received it instantly.

Since then, I've had 3 new users that have signed up without any issue using a yahoo.com, hotmail.co.uk, and live.com email addresses. I've not had any users sign up with gmail since then but I'll keep an eye out and see if they run into any issues.

I've also reached out to the affected users to see if theirs ever came through as well and will report back.

Edit: One of the three have answered me so far, theirs came through as well within about 5 minutes of mine coming through.

I have sent this on and thank you for your update on this matter.

I do feel like this is not down to us and it could be a problem with the Email host / provider but i have asked TGF to look in to this some more to see if maybe it was a server slowdown or something.

The godfather has sent this on to our tech team to look in to for you.
As I will be away from the site until Wednesday I have tuned off my PM's but I hope that when he gets news he will reply here with the findings.

No worries, it could very well have just been an issue on gmail's side but I appreciate you guys looking into it for me anyways!
