Scrolling Announcement & Smiley's Stopped working

The Scrolling Announcement and the Smileys have stopped working on my site.

My entered Announcement on the site home page shows but has frozen. I have tried re loading it and have set it to scroll left to no luck it stays frozen in place (no matter which way i set it to scroll)

When I try adding a smiley to a post using the normal method of clicking on one of those available my cursor dissapears and "error on screen" comes up in the status tool bar.

I noticed there have been some updates made available (in the admin area) for sites. Could this have something to do with it

I have tried re setting things through the admin pannel and have not been successful.

Other things I have done include restoring the whole site 24 hours and 48 hours hence, re-starting my PC , cold starting my PC and threatening to hit my PC with a BIG stick (this option is looking more and more favourable by the minute )

Could someone help me with this please.

PS: Other than taking an age to load the page all else seems to be working. (BIG stick inc)

The scroll announcement seems to be working now.

Overnight sleep and leaving the baseball bat lent up against the tower seems to have done the trick.

Unless one of you good admins has snuck in like the tooth fairy and fixed it (in which case thanks).
