Administration panel problem
Hi all, new here so please bear with me.
My problem is this: In the administration panel kicks me back to the home tab 9 out 10 times. For example, i click on the general tab to create new Categories and forums only to be kicked back to the home tab. This happens in all the other tabs 9 out of 10 times.
In desperations I gave up and tried to delete the forum. No luck there, yes you guessed it, once again I was kicked back to the home tab.
So the next day I decided to give it another try. Same story today. After several hours I managed to create two Categories.
Here the forum link just in case

Are you inactive for a long time & then try hitting something after which you are returned to the home tab? That could be one of the reason.

Update: I installed both firefox and flock explorers. I seem to get the best result with flock, altough I'm still kicked back to the Home tab half the time.

No, this problem occurs right after logging into the admin panel. I tried closing explorer, clearing the history and cookies and opening a new session.

This stared from the very first time I logged into the Admin panel on the first day I registered my forum using Internet explorer 7. My forum is only two days old.

Can you inform us of an approximate date of creation or the time your forum has been doing this for please?
Oh, just so you know, I can't help you when I'm sleeping

I created the forum on Wed 9 Dec 2009 - 20:18. My problem started the first time I logged into the admin panel.
Update: I asked a friend to log into the admin panel from his PC. He uses Vista with Flock internet explorer and experienced the same issue.
PS. Sorry for my inpatients.

Re: Administration panel problem
This is weird.
Is your OS ( Operating System ) also Win Vista?
Do you mind if I were to register, and if you don't mind make me an admin so I can further assess this by any chance?
If you are also using Win Vista, I have a theory, however it is a VERY long shot, and I doubt it would work, however I would have to try it.

Re: Administration panel problem
Thank you, I'm signing up now under "darren1"
Well, that blew my idea out the door
First, I'd like to suggest that you upgrade to XP Service pack 3 as it's the latest version available via: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=68C48DAD-BC34-40BE-8D85-6BB4F56F5110&displaylang=en
( And it appears I got some security updates to manually download too )
I'll have to investigate further to come up with a possible solution.
EDIT: Could you please activate me, I made a typo in my email address ><

Re: Administration panel problem
This is a weird problem.
I am not having any problems what so ever.
Ok, I don't mean to be rude or to intrude, but I do happen to have a feeling that this is something wrong on with your PC it's self.
I just want to double check that you have done everything before we go any further, I don' mean to delay the time for a solution however I fear that I have missed something.
Ok, that brainstorming gave me an idea which I didn't think of.
Can you try accessing your site from another computer, maybe a laptop, computer from work or school?

- Cleared cache & cookies
- Tried several browsers
- A friend has tried with own account on own computer
-> Also playing up for him
--> Not playing up for me - Computer is up to date
---> XP SP2 is regarded slightly out dated and is recommended to upgrade to SP3 + Additional security updates recently released, however is widely used and not really regarded as out-dated.

Fisrt off, thanks once again for your time in helping me.
I can cofirm that I tried everything in your list. Altough I am still using XP Pro SP2. I also tried accesing the admin panel from two diffrent pc's on my LAN with the same problem persisting. Also install Firefox and Flock browsers on one pc but still no solution.
Question: Would the error console list in Firefox be of any use? I did notice several warnings in the error console.
This is the warnings I get when clicking on the User & Groups tab in the admin panel:
Warning: Error in parsing value for 'cursor'. Declaration dropped.

Re: Administration panel problem
Hmm a wild shot here but what ISP are you with? And is it the same as your freinds ISP?
ISP=Internet Service Provider if your wondering
ISP=Internet Service Provider if your wondering
Re: Administration panel problem
The ISP would have of no association with this.
I believe it is localized with the users PC.
Being on a LAN brings up another whole wide area of probabilities
Can you try on another computer that is NOT on your LAN please?

I have to agree with you here, must be my current setup. Probably XP Pro SP2. I will try logging into the admin panel from a diffrent PC at another location. I will get back with the result in a day or two.

Re: Administration panel problem
Update:
Test 1. I went to an Internet cafe (LAN setup) and logged into the admin panel. The result was that I was still kicked back to the home tab. Same problem. Then I logged out and closed explorer, cleared the cookies, history and temp files. Open explorer and looged in again, still the same problem.
Test 2. I went to my GF place (NOT A LAN setup) and logged into the admin panel. I was able to create two catogories in 2 seconds without being kick around and without clearing the cookies and temp files.
Can this possibly be a LAN or router/firewall issue?

Re: Administration panel problem
By the looks of your report, it does look like it's a setting on your LAN.
Ok, I wanna test something, but please only do this if you choose to
The only step I feel comfortable asking you to do without higher knowledge is to go to:
Control panel > Internet Options > Security ( That's a top tab ) > Trusted sites > click on "sites" and add in
-> The slash will ensure it will follow on anywhere on ur site.
If his doesn't work, then I'll have to refer you to another site, which should be able to resolve your problem, seeing as it is localized to your PC/LAN

Re: Administration panel problem
Hi darrean1
I am not sure if I'm doing this right. I copied the entire code in green text and added it to Trusted sites. Soon as I click the add button the code canges to just the following: [url=http
Thinking that is not correct, forgive me for ignorance here, I coppied only this: http:/ /279kiap.forumotion.net/index.htm and added that to my trusted sites. The result I get is this: 279kiap.forumotion.net
I did this in Firefox, Flock and Explorer. Still getting the same problem.

Re: Administration panel problem
Snake, that should still come out with the same result
Ok, this is getting into the region I don't know alot about, so I am going to ask you to go to GeekPolice as they can further assist you, as seeing this is something related to just your LAN and/or your local PC.
Their URL is: http://geekpolice.com
They should be able to further assist you
I am sorry that we couldn't fix this problem for you
