creating a home page for my site

One of my Moderators suggested that we make a "Home" page like an intro page that tells what our mission is and how to to navigate through the site.

mostly, people who post on auto forums are used to vBulletin site.

is there a way to create a page that when someone goes to www.gulfcoasttundras.com they first see a home page that has whatever I want on it instead of going to the main index page?

Yes, you can.

- You can create a portal, by going to:

Admin Panel ==> Modules ==> Portal Management.

You can also make your own html homepage, by going to:

Admin Panel ==> Modules ==> HTML Page Management.

You can code it yourself, or get some codes and put it together and such, but if you make it the homepage, you have to have a link to forumotion.com on it, but it says all about that on the HTML page.

ok...so i created the portal but when I go to my site the forum page comes up, not the portal. what gives?

Display>Generalities
Your forum redirects to : The portal
Save

it's saved as you directed but when i go to the site it still pulls up the forum instead of the portal... help please

Did you activate the portal?

yes... you can lock this thread... i created a homepage message instead... ended up doing exactly what i wanted but with no redirections.
