Solved Quote Function Not Functioning

Post by HotParadox May 5th 2010, 6:32 pm

First topic message reminder :

My forum is messing up. The quote function is not working properly and my settings are correct. This is the standard quote function that I am talking about (I have not enabled the mult-quote function nor do I wish to at this time).
Here I have copied and pasted the way quotes are being displayed on my forum today. My response to the grumpy pilot is "test":

the grumpy pilot wrote:
Is there something going on with the forums and posts from yesterday? The posts are appearing without the quotes, instead it says so and so said: etc., I can't tell who said what or who is quoting who or who is posting and responding. And I can't even see the posts from the second page except one at the top of the keeping in touch thread?????? I tried two different browsers as well....explorer and firefox. And onthe posts that have been quoated, our avatars are appearing in the middle of the posts and not over on the right side of the page. Anyone else having these issues?

I would appreciate your kind help in this matter. Thanks,

What's weird is, it's actually working right for me here on the support forum, but not on some other forums Quote Function Not Functioning - Page 3 Dawa_
Yeah that confused me as well! And I wasn't being impatient...just curious!

Seems to be effecting the phpbb3 versions, regardless the Net Work. In disabling your quote button, it still will appear in your pm messages.. The button would need to be hidden via adminCP>display>pics management>advanced mode>buttons>scroll to "quote" button>click "hide">save.Hope to see problem sorted.Thank you MrMario for your initial reply.Keep us posted please.

My members also reported this so i thought i would drop by here to see if this was a software problem or if I screwed up the coding. Good news I did not mess anything up. LOL

Here is my forum http://mcstylists-overclock.forumotion.com/index.htm which also has a quote issue and yes I am also using a phpbb3 skin...

Mine is still messed up ever since I first created this thread several days ago. And mine is phpBB3 and my browser is Fire Fox.

Patiently waiting for Mr. Mario to update us and I, personally, am not going to reformat anything at this point unless that is what a higher up such as Mr. Mario advises me to do.

The phrase "no news is good news", doesn't apply here. Confused I gather nothing is being said because no progress has been made. I have a phpBB3 version and primary use firefox. I viewed site via google chrome and IE and with all three, they were messed up. spoiler,code,quote.. Who ever said "patience is a virtue", must not of had a website. Smile what are we to do? wait!

I highly think that they did this to change around somethings for our forums.

They just need to complete the job as soon as possible.

The forum moderators of this forum should post a few fixes using CSS, Very good

Edit :

Or, if they don't know any at the moment, then they can research ( on a test forum ) a little and get the fixes, Wink

Forumotion doesn't work on the weekends and they aren't going to be fixing any problems right now. They will return and fix the problem on Monday. To me I believe they are updating the quotes like they did to the spoilers.

Solved Re: Quote Function Not Functioning

Post by Darren1 May 9th 2010, 1:37 am

Guys please be patient, the problem may be harder to fix than we think, and the fixes that they apply mightn't work the first time, so they have to fix the fix.
If they release the fix being incomplete, or untested, it could cause havoc or chaos ...,.. surely you wouldn't want the problem to be worse?

I'm sure the techs are doing their best, and if it is difficult enough, they may have worked on Saturday morning.

Okay, we can wait. Just please update us if any of the coding for code, spoiler, or quote boxes changes as a result of the updates they were apparently trying to do. I use spoilers in an unusual way so the html code for them is very important to me. Smile Thanks very much.

It appears that the forum's appearance isn't the only problem. ( spoilers, code box, things that can be fixed a little with CSS )

There are a few other issues. ( security related ) I've reported it to Nessa already.

If this issue is pending, then I'll have to close down my forum until this is fixed because I don't think anyone is aware of it on my forum...

There is no need to switch theme versions. We just got to wait it out and Forumotion will take care of it. Do you really want to lose all the time you put in on a theme?

If you are going to switch since I warned you, don't be coming here saying I need help going back to my other theme when someone already warned you about it.

I have saved my phpBB3 theme. I don't think, that something will be lost in my previous theme.
