Quote Function Not Functioning
First topic message reminder :
My forum is messing up. The quote function is not working properly and my settings are correct. This is the standard quote function that I am talking about (I have not enabled the mult-quote function nor do I wish to at this time).
Here I have copied and pasted the way quotes are being displayed on my forum today. My response to the grumpy pilot is "test":
the grumpy pilot wrote:
Is there something going on with the forums and posts from yesterday? The posts are appearing without the quotes, instead it says so and so said: etc., I can't tell who said what or who is quoting who or who is posting and responding. And I can't even see the posts from the second page except one at the top of the keeping in touch thread?????? I tried two different browsers as well....explorer and firefox. And onthe posts that have been quoated, our avatars are appearing in the middle of the posts and not over on the right side of the page. Anyone else having these issues?

Mine is messed up too.
It is the same colour as the main message.
It is not clear which one is the quote and which one is the main post.
What can I do to solve the problem?
Should I change the style of the forum?

Re: Quote Function Not Functioning
Same here, nothing but problems for my members..i have disabled the Quoting and quick reply and still have members reporting problems. Some are saying when they use the post reply and press send they get this error... no post mode specified' , not every time but more often than not.
Is anyone actually looking into this problem???

Re: Quote Function Not Functioning
Efbe, The techs are doing their best to fix & upgrade the quote system, as were speeking.
They can only do so much.
As far as the "No post mode specified" clear your cache & cookies and it should be fixed
It's a problem of the cookies.

Re: Quote Function Not Functioning
My members are still using different colors and @Quoter to quote. Someone suggested making this a sticky. Can we do that, so we don't have to search for it? Thanks to the mods here for keeping us updated.

Re: Quote Function Not Functioning
My site is working fine with Quotes so i take it its not all of us, But saying that i have not seen a lot of members that are useing (invision) saying they have a problem so i take it its only on the other ones.
Maybe it would help the staff if you was all to update your profiles so they know what your useing like this
Browser: Firefox
Forum version: punBB
it all can be done in your profiles

Thanks ape man.we should try invision. We are on phpbb3. It does appear to change the skin. But worth a try. We can always get a different skin I am sure. I will contact our admin nowape man wrote:My site is working fine with Quotes so i take it its not all of us, But saying that i have not seen a lot of members that are useing (invision) saying they have a problem so i take it its only on the other ones.

Re: Quote Function Not Functioning
Don't worry people, nobody seems to care about us having this problems. We can bump this topic for hours and Forumotion won't do anything about it, and the mods will just tell us to keep waiting for Typlo while he never showed up on here (and today is not a weekend day ) while we could get a couple CSS or even some JavaScript codes to fix this (I would if I knew enough of codes).
We seem to be... running in circles?

Our admin has changed to invision what ape man suggested and the quotes work on invision.TheListener wrote:Don't worry people, nobody seems to care about us having this problems. Re: Quote Function Not Functioning
Changing for one version to another one is not as simple as you believe. CSS must be changed and also the general layout changes.
You know what would be easier? If Typlo and the Forumotion Staff solved this for once

Thanks for your reply Darren, but no one apart from yourself has said that the tech's are working on this problem, It's been over one week and we have not heard from one person in authority who is willing to give us an explanation to what caused this, when it will be fixed etc... all we hear is They are working on it from members who don't actually know and are guessing the problem is being fixed... I wonder if the French forums are having the same issue?
Re: Quote Function Not Functioning
French forums haven't reported anything as of yet.
Part of the reason we have no updates for you is because the techs haven't given us any updates...all I can say is that it has been reported and they are working on it.

Re: Quote Function Not Functioning
Hello,
I've been messing with CSS today and with the quotes I've got it to work.
Please save a copy of the old CSS. Look for in the CSS /*Posting Layouts*/
.postmain blockquote{ and everything under that and replace it with this.
If it doesn't work I'll have to mess with it a little more. I have also been looking at the other support forums and there is no report of this problem but here. This might be why the techs haven't fixed it yet because they don't know how this problem came about. I am really sorry about this problem and I will try my best to give you updates about this problem.

Thanks a million. This worked a treat.
[Out of interest, do you know how to change the background colour of the quote box? It's not really important; just thought I'd ask.]

Typlo wrote:Hello,

Typlo,
Funny thing. I came here this morning and saw your post. So I went back to see if it was fixed and it wasn't. I came back here and registered so I could post a question here.
The old quotes were not repaired, so I wanted to ask you if they were supposed to repair themselves or what. Just before I posted that question, I went back to check and the old mis-aligned quotes were fixed.
Then I tried using a quote and it failed to work. I kept getting an error message. So I came back here to report that. Just before I pressed Send, I gave it one more try and don't you know, it worked just fine.
This all took place in about 10-15 minutes, so perhaps the fix takes a little time to establish itself. I don't know much about how this stuff works, so I am guessing here.
I hope this helps out anyone who has a similar experience with the fix. All you have to do is just wait a few minutes and it all works out.
Many thanks,
gyso

Bernice no need to replace anything. Forumotion fixed it. I just provided the code last night and didn't know it was going to be fixed today.
