Guests showing up in restricted areas

When viewing "Who Is Online" we have recently noticed guests showing up in restricted areas of our forum, like our Members Only section.

Any idea how this is possible?

Even if it shows them looking there, it does not mean they are seeing the page. They should see a message saying, "You are not connected or logged in."

But these restricted areas are not even visible to guests. That's the confusing part.

you should have to be logged in to even see it.

The only thing I see is the log in box. I am still looking at that page. Go and see if the list shows a guest looking at that forum.

No, no guests in Members Only - or any other restricted area right now.

Google, bing, etc. show up as what they are, right?

Google, Bing, etc. can only see what guests can see.

OK, I'm stumped.

Several mods are aware, maybe we'll keep a log and see if there is any rhyme or reason to it.

Seems it's caused when links to our restricted areas are accessed from other sites!
