Solved html coding for newsletter

Post by Carpe_Mortis July 2nd 2012, 7:23 pm

I have been trying to put together my newsletter this weekend. I was able to send out a simple text newsletter as a test. Whenever I try to write code into the Html text box in the write newsletter section it tells me that it includes tags that are used by spammers and they need to removed before it can be sent. I have copied and pasted from the newslettter section of the my forum page, see it below, and I still get the same message. The same code works in the forum page though.

THE WOLF PACK NEWSLETTER

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Volume I; First Edition

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our first edition of the TWP Newsletter is here. We will try to keep this as informative as possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated, just put them in the suggestion page.
We need all members to go to the Introduce Yourself page, that haven't, to update their information, those that have thank you. This information is used by all members to team up with other members.

Basically I can't put anything into the write newsletter section but simple text. No codes no pictures. I should be able to do all this shouldn't I? Well I am at a loss of what to do.

Also none of the buttons work in the Html write a newsletter either. I need alot of help I guess. Thanks.
That's weird the code works here as well.

I did not know that but I did try both the greater to or less than symbols and that did not work either. When I used the brackets in the forum pages then I could enter text and it displayed it correctly. At that point I thought that this forum used brackets instead. Is that why the html buttons aren't working because it is in BBCode not html? How do I turn html on? It is enabled, I think.

Solved Re: html coding for newsletter

Okay so I am about two weeks old by my join date and so I started to take a html tutorial so I could enter text into the forum pages. So I try to enter text with my new html knowledge and the forum pages would not accept it. I noticed that the text tool tiles in the forum were using brackets and not <>, so I thought that is what the forum used instead, not knowing about BBCode. So I started using the brackets and the tool tiles and I was able to get through making my forum pages. Now I want to send out a newsletter and I started to use html code, <> symbols, and with the html enabled it won't accept it and I am getting the error code that I previously have discussed.

Before you enter the text for the newsletter, are you pressing the HTML button above the text area?

Yes, I have tried turning off and then back on again. When I hover over the red html it says, disable html editor, so I am assuming that it is on, but I have tried it both ways though just to be sure. At this point the tool tiles don't turn on. I also get the error notice as stated before when I try to send.

Solved Re: html coding for newsletter

I have solved this through the solved problems forum pages. I happened along a Topic - Enabling HTML, that solved the problem because the member had the exact same problem with his newsletter editor. My profiles had been enabled for html and BBCode. It was the Chrome that was blocking the tools. I downloaded Firefox and they are now working. I have tried the rest of the editor and tools and all are working. Search Enabling HTML. Just to let the staff know I had searched for this before but nothing came from the search. Anyway thank you all for helping. Very Happy
