There are only two ways to see IP addresses:
1. You are both on at the same time - Administration Panel > Home (bottom right corner [Who's Online])
2. If they have posted, there should be an IP button in the message.

you can also set how long before another account is signed up through that ip
admin/forums/security/tic ip.cannot be used in 24 hour thing
