Solved bbtheme file

Post by Sandy000 February 11th 2013, 6:46 pm

This is my first post here so I hope I am placing it in the correct forum.

I am new to forumotion and I like to design skins.
I designed my first skin and wanted to make a topic to show case my designs and offer them to others to use.

However when I went to upload the attachment in a post it said that the bbtheme file was not valid.

Uploaded file is not valid: invalid attachment name.

Is there any way to change the file type or add it to ones that are accepted so that I care share my designs?
Or a way to read and display the bbtheme file?

Thank you for your assistance. ~Sandy Very Happy

Solved Re: bbtheme file

Post by Guest February 11th 2013, 6:52 pm

I believe that the "Import/Export" functionality is still broken and has been for years.

Honestly, unless they have any intention of fixing it anytime soon, I think they should just remove that part of the control panel now. Remove the Import/Export boxes and rename "Themes Management" to "Skin Restoration" or something, since that's the only working tool on that page now.

Hate to be a pessimist but it's been down for years and I'm no longer expecting it's return. Would love to hear some good news about it though, but I'm not expecting it.

Wait for a Mod for an official response though. But I believe they'll just tell you that it's down.

Edit : I'm going to write a suggestion about this in fact. I believe this should be re-addressed. It's stood still for years and something should be done about it, being fixing it or just removing it. Having a useless tool sitting around just raises questions from the community and wastes everyone's time.

Export and import did work for me. Smile

Is hitkskin the only place I can upload a bbtheme file?
Once uploaded there would I be able to get a file link to use at my board so that members/affiliates can download my skins for their boards?
Or do I have to just let whoever view them at hitskin?

Wait, it worked?!

What? Totally isn't working for me and most others.

...WHAT?

...well I made a suggestion about it anyway.

Edit : I definitely can't export. Have you tried exporting yet or just importing?

Maybe just exporting is broken...I don't know. I have no bbtheme to import to test this.

What about export? Does exporting work? I can't download any files. I've been told many times that it's broken.

A long time ago you could share your themes by exporting them from your site to your computer. But it's been broken for a long time.

I do not know, but I operate normally, only when exporting is a bit slow.

Yes it slow exporting, but very quick importing.
Alexander Moore, maybe it's because you are using a different version than us.
In your profile it says you are running phpBB3.
I am running phpBB2 and Sea Starter is running punBB

Solved Re: bbtheme file

I think this has gotten a little off topic, I don't have any problems with the theme exporter or importer. They work fine for me.

My question was is there way to upload my bbtheme file as an attachment so that I can share it with other members to use on their boards?

If not is there some where I can upload this type of file online to link to, to share with members to use on their boards?

How can I share an exported theme with another member that lives in another country? - Doesn't have access to my computer?

Thank you, Sandy

You can create an account on www.hitskins.com and upload it there, so others can install it on their Forumotion forums.
