Attempting to Merge Two Topics

Evening,
I have two threads, both the same thing, one of 67 pages, and 990 replies, and the other at 9 pages, and 124 replies. When I attempt to merge these two, the larger of the two, gets locked. I have unlocked it, and attempted to merge them, but it just locks back up, and I never locked it. Then a bud tried to post in the large one, and it got moved to the smaller one. If there is a way I can merge these two, I would appreciate the help.

You can't merge them since 990 replies is the limit, it will automatically split and create another thread.

Messages in a subject: 990 messages (once the limit reached, the subject is locked and splitted)
