Hi, FBConnect, new accounts activation, and age limits :-)
http://dsden.forumotion.co.uk/
ÂÂ
Thank you very much that I am able to run a forum, and that it is so easy to use. So happy with what I've been able to do, with all of the great features. ÂÂ
I've set up FBC and new users can see the option to log in and also to associate their FB account, but the function doesn't seem to be working ... nobody can register or log in that way. I checked the dev page, and just accepted the suggested url link (Heroku), clicked through about that, but it hasn't changed things. The error that comes up is 'given URL is not permitted by the application configuration; One or more of the given URLs is not allowed by the App's settings. It must match the Website URL or Canvas URL, or the domain must be a subdomain of one of the App's domains'.
I can't see any 'thanks' button either (have already done resychronisation) [edit: 'thanks' button appeared, and I found out how to change it from French to English ... the only button remaining to change is 'envoyer une photo' ... may I ask if there is anywhere where the 'thanks' show up. I looked at the rep system, but didn't really want to initiate that. 'Most popular posts' would most likely give the feedback anyway though]
ÂÂ
May I also check about any age limits. The large group is a range of ages, generally older people, all linked in with the Draw Something 2 app. I have been running the Den as an FB group until finding your amazing forum. I know one of the previous members of the FB group is actually only nine years old, so I realise it's very important to check about any age limits, especially with expecting a much bigger influx of new members from the DS2 app ... there are a lot of younger people that use the app.
ÂÂ
May I also ask about the user option settings ... I had wanted to run the Den as a closed group, but needed to select 'New accounts activation ... user' in order for people to register earlier (I brought in about 18 site testers this morning, and we're all working together from today and for another 2 days after that, with the actual opening of the forum being on Monday, but I had ensured that everyone knew it would be a closed group/no trolls.)
And solely Android users are having a very difficult time indeed viewing and using the forum. Concerned about this a lot.ÂÂ
Many thanks, Cat

Thanks for info about the 'thanks' button. The thread just says that nothing was fixed, unfortunately. I'm also really concerned about being able to run the user options so I admit new members rather than the user themselves do that (it seemed that people couldn't register unless I made the group 'open' which I really do not want, having promised everyone it would be 'closed'), and about the lack of mobile optimisation, and also about the age limit. Many thanks, Cat

Thanks, I had understood that but it seemed that people couldn't register when that option was ticked, unless various other remedies I was trying at the time were the actual solution. Will revert back and see what happens.

Re: Hi, FBConnect, new accounts activation, and age limits :-)
Thanks so much SLGray and Derri; much appreciate. I've moved to phpbb2 today, and had thought that might fix things ... did fix width/picture display in posts, perfectly, plus am running registrations as myself activating now, and that's working great. The FB Connect won't work ... gives 'Given URL is not permitted' message. I'd removed the heroku url at the suggestion of someone who had thought it might be an idea to insert FB page url instead. But now I can't set up another url. Didn't work with the heroku url either ... same message. I'll screenshot the dev page. Sorry, I've never done CSS before, thus was extra relieved when phpbb2 fixed the width/picture errors today! Thanks for link. Found it a bit difficult to understand, so, if I can just show you any screenshots you need instead? Thanks, Cat
Re: Hi, FBConnect, new accounts activation, and age limits :-)
When I went to submit app, said had to update integration, then back to the page I've shown above. When I try to create url with heroku, can't do that again. But didn't work even with heroku url.
Thanks, Cat
Thanks, Cat

Re: Hi, FBConnect, new accounts activation, and age limits :-)
Sorry. Only been here a couple of days, and really stressed trying to get some answers, as doors open on Monday. Is there any answer about the FB Connect, please? I'd tried to minimise posting by also asking if I could check the age limits for the forum at the same time. Thanks, Cat

Re: Hi, FBConnect, new accounts activation, and age limits :-)
The age limit question really has to do with the laws in the country where you live. You can set the age range in your administration panel.
There has been no updates about the Facebook Connect.

Thanks :-) Sorry, I haven't seen any settings about age range. If you could just point me in the right direction, that would be great. Forumotion has no rules about age range?
