Permission control
Hi all,
We've had a few issues with trolls lately and I'm trying to restrict a certain area from them.
As you'll see from the screen grab below, everyone is checked to view, read, edit and delete (except guests) but what I want to do is UNCHECK that group called "Trolls".
As you can see, it's greyed out.
Obviously, that's because I've checked the MEMBERS box on the top line and, it would appear that the "Troll" group is a part of MEMBERS.
The solution seems to be to ensure that all the MEMBERS are in the MEMBERS ONLY group (about halfway down) but, probably because I was an idiot setting this up, there's no-one in there.
So how do I get all of my registered members into that MEMBERS ONLY group and ensure that any new members get auto-added to it? (until I remove them into the "Troll" group is they misbehave?
Sorry if I've not been clear. Feel free to ask but I'm really desperate for a solution here.

Re: Permission control
Simply put, I want to restrict the "Trolls" group from that particular forum.
Clearly, a check on MEMBERS selects everything and everybody.
But if I uncheck it, MEMBERS see nothing of that forum.
I suppose the best solution is to somehow mass-migrate all my MEMBERS into that group called "Members only" and then group auto subscribe so any newly registered members are added to it.
But with nearly 900 members, doing it manually will take eons. Is there a way to import all my registered members into the "Members Only" group?

Yeah, that'd be great! Is there an easy way?

Ok...I'm just working through the page looking at what you've said but I don't see that MINIMUM POST option.
The others, yes...not the minimum post bit though. (???)

Re: Permission control
Brilliant!
Thank you.
I was hoping that simply adding them to the TROLLS group would mean they can't see that thread - but I have to remove them from Members Only, too.
Otherwise, that's perfect. Thanks.

Re: Permission control
Actually, no...it's not perfect.
If I remove them from Members Only, they can't see anything. AAARGGGHH!

Re: Permission control
Another problem. See above.
I was hoping that adding someone to a Trolls group would give them those permissions but they also seem to inherit them from the Members Only group of which they are a part.
Is there a way of making the Trolls permissions override that of other groups? Does the Group Order make a difference? Because Trolls is at the top near administrators (0 number)

Re: Permission control
Trolls was 2nd from top though (under administrator) so I would have thought they'd be the prime permission?

Re: Permission control
Hi Pizza Boi.
I have a members group (everyone).
I have a trolls group (people found to be carrying on like an idiot).
We don't want to outright ban the Trolls but restrict them from a certain section.
What Erchima has told me is fantastic by way of organising things but....
The Trolls are also Members and seem to be inheriting their permissions so can see the section I want to restrict them from.
I was now asking if there was a way that I can prioritise the groups so that the permissions that trolls have (i.e., not selected to view or post in that section) aren't overridden by their permissions as a Member??

Re: Permission control
Hi
That won't be possible; moreover, the only thing you CAN do is just make sure that the members group is not auto subscribe.
In order to see if it works, try creating a dummy account. As far as I'm concerned, when you're not a member, you can't view anything, if not most, in my Forum and it should work for you as well.

Re: Permission control
When member is in two groups: If one group is ordered above the other group, that group's permissions are given to the member.
